Discontinue Use of the External Power Supply

Hello Garmin.

After the warning for the neo bike plus I am very excited to know, what further notice will be. And when.

Hope we will get an answer soon! And of course a new external power supply, too. Bike costs 3,5 grand. That's not funny.

Just my two cents

Nico

Discontinue Use of the External Power Supply

1. Disconnect the external power supply from the trainer and the wall outlet.
2. Do not use the external power supply until further notice.

  • Applied immediately for the power supply but still haven’t got any response, information or shipment. Any lucky one here in Austria?

  • Hi everyone.

I got the new external power supply, too.

If I ride downhill without pedaling, the bike disconnects after a while. It's different, sometimes like 30 seconds, sometimes longer. As soon as I start pedalinng again, it reconnects.

    Testet on Tremola challenge.

Does anybody else have this problem with the new power supply?

I wish you all a very merry christmas.

    kind regards

    Nico

  • Received the replacement power supply today (Michigan).

I received several emails from Garmin about this problem and resolution.  Including several emails regarding the delivery of the replacement supply.  Generally, I think they did a pretty good job of communicating.

I wish Garmin would explain why a 65 watt PS vs. a 90 watt PS solves the problem.  An electrical component on draws as much power as it needs.  In other words, we could have a 1000 watt PS and other than the cost, the bike would function exactly the same as a 90 watt PS.

I suppose, if a component in the bike fails, then there would only be 65 watts of energy available, and maybe the component can withstand 65 watts and not burst into flames.  If Garmin doesn't explain how this works hopefully someone else with electronics experience could take a stab at explaining what might be going on.

  • I did not recognize anything like that but I use it with Rouvy. I tested it after I read your comment. No diconnects after 30 seconds or longer.

Did you download and install the latest firmware?

  • Hi

    and thanks for the answers.

Yes, of course, I did the Update before I received the new power supply.

App and Windows are well updated, too.

Yesterday I testet on the new island hopping challenge stage 1-3.

In my oppinion, the bike must be on temperature. The first disconnects are always after a while, but then again and again and again.

Yesterday first disconnect was at km 16. After that, I switched to the old power supply and ride another 95 km without any problems.

Would be nice and important to know, if someone else can reproduce this problem.

    kind regards

  • I had no Problems with my Neobike Plus and the new Powersupply .. Seems odd that the bike disconnects during downhill - is the flyweel stoping ? Are there any other devices around that are knowing the Neo Bike Plus that that could take over the Trainer Control ? Edge, Watch Smartphone ?

  • I checked exactly this yesterday before the ride.

The bike has never been connected to each of  our edges, and both were off, not in standby mode.

It has never been paired to the watches, neither. Auto detection for new devices has been disabled, too.

The android tacx app was manually stopped the ride before, and multiple disconnects after that.

Especially this happens only with the new power supply. I do not know, how exactly this is possible, that probably another device makes this issue, but only with the new power supply and not with the old one.

  • My wife uses the TACX app and I use Zwift.  We both rode without issues with the replacement power supply.

  • I did a fast 25km round yesterday with some downhill parts from 10-60 seconds so that I could test what you wrote. My Neo Bike Plus did not disconnect.

  • Thank you so much for your help.

    I appreciate that a lot.

    I'm so frustrated.

Hopefully the engineers are able to fix this.

First impressions with 4.63.2.0 are good.

    Tomorrow next test

Thanks for your help with this.
