NeoBike plus and EDGE 1040 routes resistance

When using my Edge 1040 with the Neo bike plus to ride saved routes (on the edge) it doesn't adjust the Neo bikes resistance for the climbs. Is it supposed to? Am I missing a setting somewhere?

I have no experience of the NeoBike but the my edge(s, 530,1040) will adjust resistance on my Tacx Flow and Tacx Flux when following a course. There are several ways of making it work but the Garmin recommended way (in the support pages) is to ,

Having selected the Indoor Profile then Select Training>Select Indoor Trainer>Select Follow Course>Select(Load) the Course> Select Ride>Press the start button (and don't forget to pedal or does the neoBike Plus do that for you?). Assuming you have paired the Trainer with the 1040, don't know if the NeoBike has to be "Calibrated", have to with the Flow & Flux.
