Neo 3M+Alpine does not work with Rouvy

Hi

I recently upgraded to a Tacx Neo 3M + Alpine combo.

The Alpine is paired to the Neo, and the Neo 3M in turn is connected to a PC (Windows 11) via Bluetooth.

Thing is, while the Neo seems to be working properly, I can’t get the Alpine to change gradients automatically in either Workout or "Just Ride" mode.

I reached out to Rouvy technical support and they confirmed that Rouvy does *not* currently work with the Tacx Neo 3M + Alpine but that they're working on it (presumably with Garmin/Tacx).

Anything else that I can try in the meantime?

  • I'm currently using the Tacx Neo 3M + Elite Rizer combo and it works great with all the programs. I was planning on switching to the Alpine to get all the Garmin features, but reading this, it completely throws me off because I was going to buy it right now. I hope they fix this soon, but it's strange that it works with the Tacx app and not the other apps.

  • Hello , please see the post here: Garmin Forums: Tacx Alpine + Rouvy

Rouvy does not currently support the Tacx Alpine. Garmin has been in contact with our partners at Rouvy and they are aware of the issue. We are not able to share reports or customer information and it is important that you also share feedback with Rouvy directly.

  • Hi Clayton

Thanks for your response. I did read the posts you referenced prior to posting my own, and as I mentioned in my post had also reached out to Rouvy directly. I posted here in part because Rouvy tech support suggested that share the matter with Garmin!

In the meantime I am more than a little disappointed to find that my new (and expensive!) Alpine doesn't work with the one app (Rouvy) that would appear to make the best use of it. I will also add that I decided on the Alpine after reading reviews of it on DCRainmaker and 5KRunner that specifically said that this combo *was* supported (although in DCRainmaker's defense he did mention that compatibility was a "hit or miss").

Anyway I am keeping my fingers crossed that this gets sorted sooner rather than later.

  • Good morning, I'm in the same situation.
Rouvy tells me it's not supported and to contact Garmin, and Garmin tells me to contact Rouvy. What I don't understand is why before August 25th (before the new framework was released) DCRainmaker reported that it was working. Hoping for a resolution, I believe with Rouvy's communication of full support, I was wondering if there was some setting that would allow it to work as stated in DCRainmaker's post. Thanks.

  •  thank you for your detailed feedback.

We cannot speculate about what Rouvy, DCRainmaker or others are reporting, but I can confirm that Garmin has been in touch with Rouvy and they are aware of the incompatibility.

There is no setting or other option for the Alpine to change its behavior with 3rd party apps.

Alpine is intended to pair directly with a compatible Tacx trainer and will match the simulated grade set for the trainer by the training application. Select applications like Tacx Training App and Zwift allow the Alpine to pair as a "controller" for features like steering input. Otherwise the Alpine pairs to the trainer and not the training application (Rouvy, Zwift, etc.).

Rouvy does not currently support pairing Alpine and is expected to notify users should support be added in the future.

  • The Alpine and 3M combo work(ed) perfectly fine in Rouvy on the ANT channel... my speculation is that when ROuvy introuduced the zwift virtual shifting, they are messing with the BT signal.. that signal gets sent to the Alpine... the ANT side of things never got messed with when they programmed stuff, so the signal works... now in my first statement I said worked... the season I say that is because I noticed since updating the firmware on my 3M the other day, I can not connect via ANT to anything...

  • Tried the ANT+ connection last night - everything works as expected *except* for the Alpine. An unexpected side effect was a couple of dropouts in the course of a 45 minute workout so I've reconnected the 3M to Rouvy using BT again.

I see that Rouvy rolled out Version 4.3 late last night, will update and give it a whirl. Fingers crossed that they've included Alpine support in this update though I'm not optimistic.

  • Strange, I raced on there lastnite and it was fine in ANT mode

  • Also, did you connect everything via ANT.. power source, controllable trainer, cadence... I upgraded to latest lastnite, and like I said raced perfectly fine with the alpine moving...

  • may I reach out to you via email to learn more about your training set up?
