Firmware or Connectivity issue

Hello Garmin Tacx support team,

Since updating my Tacx Neo 2T to firmware version 2.6.0, I’ve been experiencing serious issues:
- Power output is delayed by 5+ seconds - Cadence is inaccurate and inconsistent
- My setup uses Zwift on a MacBook Pro, with sensors connected via the Zwift Companion app on my Samsung Galaxy S24

Everything worked perfectly before this update. I believe the previous firmware version was 0.0.38, which worked reliably for my use case.
I would kindly request that you help me downgrade the firmware back to that version or another stable release compatible with my setup.

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards, Stefan

  • I did the firmware upgrade, since then the tacx neo 2t is not going well, sometimes it marks 0 watts and others I don't need to change speed it's like it goes into a kind of EGR mode. I need to downgrade the firmware the new firmware is a nightmare.

The old version of the firmware can be installed using the old versions (but not the latest version) of the Tacx utility app:
    apkpure.net/.../versions
Don't forget to turn off automatic app updates.
Install such an old version of the Tacx utility app, inside which there is the required firmware version.

  • I followed this procedure to downgrade from v 2.6.0 to 0.0.38.  Worked ok and can confirm that the Neo 2T cadence sensor is again recognized in fulgaz.  I downgraded 2 x Neo 2T  using this process and both now work as expected.

Fulgaz have confirmed the Tacx update disabled the cadence connection in Fulgaz.

I do not need v 2.6.0 as I am not interested in Zwift.  As the usual advice says "don't upgrade the firmware, unless you have to". In hindsight I should have listen to my own advice.

  • Can I ask your config and version of utility app. I tried a lot but the app doesn't see neo to connect. The other neo with older fw appear immediately. Thank you

  • As per the link to the fulgaz page, you need to action this with the Tacx Training App (TTA) and not the Utility App.

    1. I downloaded the Tacx training app to my Iphone. (Downloaded the latest version from apple store. 4.70.2)

    2. I ensured only the Neo 2T that I was downgrading was powered on.  (Eg the other was off)

    3. I logged into TTA and connected the trainer.  This advised my trainer was at v 2.6.0.

    4. With the TTA still open on the iphone (I switched to a browser and clicked on the firmware restore link - "">tacx.page.link/ provided on the fulgaz page.

    5. The TTA then reopened and provided me with a link to downgrade my Neo 2T to 0.0.38.  (this downgrade link is only provided after you click the firmware restore link.)

    6.  I then followed the onscreen instructions to downgrade - (same as for upgrade.)

Then I repeated the steps for the second Neo2T.  I ensured the other was switched off and not talking to the app.  So there is only one bluetooth connected to one neo 2T at a time.  Only connect one trainer at a time.

  • For the link from the FulGaz site doesnt work to downgrade here. In the APP the Firmware upgrade does only show "Current version 2.6.0..." and the text below is missing an no downgrade is offered to me. Does anyone else tried this here with success?

  • I experience today by installing the TACX APP for PC from Microsoft store, that here the Bluetooth connection with the Original TACX APP is stable. (it doesnt turn of the light from Trainer side LEDs of after a minute) I tried here to have the TACX APP open and use Zwift but in any combination it doesnt allow to use Bluetooth or ANT together with both Trainer Apps. However I feel that a kind of "keep alive is send by the TACX App much faster or different to Zwift, myWhoosh and Rouvy App here. With none of these Apps here the blue LED remains on for more than a two minutes.

I have the Neo2 Spec Edition Trainer, there is no T shown on side, Zwift Cog works fine here and it has offered the 2.6 update in the past to me. ... However i'm confused by the media here if Neo2 is supported really or only NEO2T ... I read different on different sides. But the *** 2.6 firmware that was offered to me broke the device same as 2T here in the more active discussion.

  • 1. You opened Tacx App (i did via my iphone - assume an android phone is equal) and connected your trainer.

    2. You disconnected your trainer from the normal app it uses. (So it is not connected to multiple devices.) You plugged your trainer in to the power.

    3. With the Tacx App open in another window, clicked on the tacx api link.  Eg I had the app open, I then opened a browser on my iphone and clicked on the Link provided by Fulgaz.

4 When you click on the tacx api link, it reopens the Tacx App and you then click on firmware.  You are then presented with the option to install 0.0.38.  (If you open the Tacx App and go straight to Firmware it will only show 2.6.0 and no option to downgrade.)

I followed the fulgaz instructions as provided in the link and was able to successfully downgrade from 2.6.0 to 0.0.38 for two NEO 2Ts.  Maybe it is only for NEO 2Ts and not NEO 2s.  I can not comment.

I am unsure of the 2.6.0 issue you are having.  But if it is the cadence sensor not appearing, then a work-a-round is to purchase a cadence sensor and connect it.  That is what I did when I was using Fulgaz after the 2.6.0 update.  I installed a cadence sensor, and everytime I connected to fulgaz I had to attach the cadence sensor plus the tacx Smart Trainer and power meter.  This worked but was annoying.  (Now I am back at 0.0.38 I have removed the cadence sensor from my bike, and fulgaz successfully recognises the Tacx smart trainer, power meter, and cadence sensor.)  Note in fulgaz the NEO 2T smart trainer, power meter and cadence sensor are individually connected.  Whereas in TACX Desktop you just connect the Neo 2t.

Given I don't use zwift and virtual shifting, that should have alerted me to not upgrade in the first place.

  • Hi! Thank you for fast reply. Bust in silhouette

I have here a massive Bluetooth disconnection problem with the trainer NEO2 (i know here is NEO2T but in the other part of the forum its silent...) , it shows up every sensor. but :

it has here impressivly visible that my Bluetooth connection turns off- and- on in about every 70 seconds or such... it than disconnects from the PC the  blue light on the trainer turns off and sometimes the trainer gets crazy... sometimes you have constant power and only zwift doesnt see my power, sometimes the trainer runs crazy... as it turns to zero Watt and you step into the empty. In Rouvy App it does stop and the avatar stops for the saddle for some seconds.

    Anyhow.

    Regards the link from Fulgaz:

1 ) I open the TACX App. 2) in that i go to see trainer... 3) open the link from there in another window, by clicking that link, it will open again the Trainer App from Tacx and you will come directly to this window here:

But, there is nothing announced. "Aktualisieren" what means "update" at top right doesn't do anything and if you select now my trainer, you will see emptyness with no options to go for:

I would currently assume, that it does mean that the FulGAZ link works only for a NEO2T Trainer not for my NEO2.

However. I hope i'm not too stupid to click a link... :-)
