Neo2T Zwift virtual shifting software support required

Zwift ride frame is now available for sale independently. This gives Garmin a last chance to stay in business by upgrading their trainer software to support zwift virtual shifting.

  • I reached out to support on this same query and I was told to submit an idea. I wish they would do it as I love my Neo but also want to keep up with new tech. If virtual shifting is not on the roadmap then I will consider selling neo and purchasing a competitor's trainer.

I have since submitted an idea as follows:

Enable virtual shifting on Neo range.

It would be great if Garmin would work with Zwift to allow Neo trainers to work with virtual shifting. I have a Neo 2T for four years now and I love it, but I am considering selling it to allow me to buy a trainer that works with virtual shifting. I would prefer to keep my Neo and for Garmin to update firmware that allows the feature in its trainer.

I think it would make a lot of current Neo owners very happy and they would stick with the Neo instead of changing to a competitor.

I am sure anyone who is new to indoor training would lean towards hardware that is compatible with virtual shifting so Garmin would be missing out on a lot of new customers by not having the feature.

  • Try indieVelo instead. That supports virtual shifting without the need for firmware updates.

  • Hello Druid, I just had a look there. They make it sound very simple.

  • I reached out to Garmin via many media and no answer giving. I was told the usual "submit an idea". I did that.
I then made the decision to sell my Neo 2T with motion plates and I have since sold it.

I went ahead and bought the JetBlack Victory, before GP Lama released his production review.

The brand seems great and their previous trainers seem to be durable and reliable.

I am willing to take a €450 "risk" on this brand/product.

I hope for those that stayed with their Neo's, Garmin do release an update to enable some of the latest features other trainers now provide.

  • Assuming Garmin don’t want to lose out to Wahoo it seems an obvious decision to make. Certainly my loyalty to Garmin will be tested if they don’t update the software. Oout of principle, I’d buy Wahoo next time if they fail to do what others are doing - it for me, is respecting existing customers.

  • What does this news mean?

    zwiftinsider.com/.../

Zwift version 1.76 begins its phased rollout today.

(This release may seem a bit light – just a route badge and some bug fixes  but it’s worth mentioning that there are additional in-game changes and important updates from trainer companies rolling out in the near term (some this week!) that we can’t discuss yet since they are under embargo. Watch this space for news as it comes available…)

  • I use QZ app with Neo 2T and Zwift click und COG. Works fine

  • Garmin. Pls update Your firmware.

  • It's very frustrating that I have an expense Tacx trainer, but it doesn't support virtual shifting.  I suspect I will go to Wahoo once my 2T dies.

  • Can you explain why no update for Indievelo and the opposite for zwift ?
