Cricket Sound and Excessive Fan Noise

I recently upgraded from a Neo 1 to the 2T. Once the unit is activated by moving the pedals, there is a ticking sound (like crickets) coming from the back. In addition, it seems like the fan is not properly calibrated as it speeds up excessively at cadences above 80 rpm. If I pedal at lower cadences, the fan normalizes. Right now, the 2R sound louder than the Neo 1. Is there a firmware update in the works to address this issue?

What firmware version are you on? I believe this issue was resolved with version .32 firmware.

It's always difficult to determine anything from text descriptions, but there is a lively community of Neo owners on Facebook who are very good at helping with noise issues if you post a video of what you're experiencing.

I assume this is not linked to fw version (but I have made the update w/ last version...)

I have wrote twice in 3 days to local support (France, via Garmin website), but no answer :-(

The Neo 2T is new (20km on Zwift)....

Did you see our article about this problem? All of our videos have articles linked in the description. This is a very common and very simple problem, and nothing to get upset about. :-)

Yes, I have seen https://tacxfaqx.com/knowledge-base/grinding-sound/ but a "disc extractor" is needed... that your local support is supposed to send to me... if they answer to my request !!

I disagree : it is really an issue to get upset about... The trainer is new and the promise of the "best silent trainer" is not there (it sounds like a pan noise !)

Every individual can choose their own level of upset about trivial matters. If you've read the article, then you already know how trivial the issue is, what causes it, that you can operate your Neo as is without concern (which may simultaneously fix the problem), and that once the issue is addressed, your Neo will be perfect. It will take you less time to resolve the issue than it will to return it.

I can't answer for customer support delays regarding getting a disc extractor to you. That's on Garmin, and I personally find their support for Tacx products to be lacking so far. Meanwhile, if you really are in a hurry, you can always purchase your disc extractor online from Amazon and then return it when you're done cleaning your magnets.
