Possible problem with firmware 2.6.0

I wanted to try out Zwift virtual shifting today, so I rode Mountain 8 in Watopia on my Neo 2.  When on the "Bonus Climb", the ice(?) road up to the radio tower, road feel simulation was very exaggerated, and it felt like a particularly bad rocky surface.  I thought there might be something wrong with the trainer itself, so I tried physically shifting to my lowest physical gear, the one I'd be using if virtual shifting wasn't available and had used on this climb in the past, but nothing changed.  Once I headed downhill the feel disappeared.  At no other point in the ride, including grades nearly as big, did I feel anything like this. Road feel simulation worked normally otherwise.  Next time I do the Bonus Climb I'll turn simulation off, but that will be a while.

  • I updated to 2.60 and this is a nightmare, it has now Bluetooth connection problems, shifting is working poor, there is no possibility to downgrade and Garmin wants to sell a new device to me. Please see my posts in neo2t forum also.

  • Hi , thanks for your post and sorry for the delay.

Do you experience any performance issues with Road Feel disabled in Zwift settings?
I may also suggest that you test Road Feel using the Road Feel Demo in the Tacx Training App - this should tell us if the experience is specific to Zwift or the NEO firmware.

  • I haven't yet tried disabling road feel. I haven't been up the "Bonus Climb" since that day.  I've done many of the other big climbs in Zwift ("The Grade" for one) without any problems, but most of the others are "paved".  Since it's summer I don't do much Zwifting (none would be perfect, but alas the weather hasn't cooperated), so it may be until November until I find myself on the "Bonus Climb" again.

Other than that, the virtual shifting experience has been fantastic and road feel is pretty normal compared to the pre-virtual days.  The only improvement I'd like to see is that I get to choose my "cassette", but that's probably something Zwift has to do.  Gear 1 is low enough for the most part, although being able to choose a smaller gear would be nice. Gear 24 is way too high, and most of the upper range is just useless.  I'd prefer closer spacing.

I'll try the Tacx app sometime.  It was how I had my first experience with road feel, so I've used it before.
