Vivosmart alarm

Why I need an Internet connection to setup the alarm on my vivosmart??
Are you serious at the garmin headquarters?
Internet connection for setting an alarm?
Wtf people?
There people that don't have Internet connection all day long and on the go.
Start using your brain and make the application syncing temporary with devices and later sync with the cloud...
Use common sense ffs

No, just bought it about a month ago.

Alarms can be set up on the connect app in advance and then you have the option of turning them on and off from the watch, but that's it. It's obviously a very secondary feature, not being able to just set up a temporary alarm on the fly.

I suppose you could preset 24 alarms every hour on the hour just to have that capability, but it's easier to wear a second watch or use your phone instead.
