HR Monitor freezes during activity since update to Vivosmart 5 v3.29

Since the v3.29 software update, the HR monitor "freezes" whenever I start an activity.  Whatever my heart rate was when I first start the activity ... is the heart rate that is registered as long as I am in that activity.  My heart rate is a straight line in the activity chart.

Outside of activities, the HR line is also less likely to display a value other than "---", but it does work occasionally.  I have tried all the usual recommended troubleshooting (repositioning watch, cleaning watch, resetting, plugging in to charge, etc.).

These problems started after the most recent software update fixed "stability issues".  Is there any way to go back to version 3.28?

    There is not a way to revert to a previous release on the vivosmart 5.

    Steps I would try

    1) Hold the button on the watch down until you see the triangle (this may take 15-20 seconds), let go once you see the triangle and let it finish rebooting

    2) If step 1 doesn't help, please Turn Off the Wrist-based Heart Rate Monitor, wait 10 seconds and then enable the Wrist-based Heart monitor again
