Body battery physio true up for VS5

any ETA on when we should expect an update to enable Body Battery Physio True Up? It is really frustrating that only watches got this, I already have a Fenix 8….

  • thanks for coming back and giving an update on this, still room for hope in future

  • FWIW I've also tested the VS4 I still have with me, and there is a one way sync of BB from VS to F8 also. F8 also displays the stress / BB levels of when I wore the VS4. (Note :my VS4 was completely off with stress levels hard to reach during the night in the middle of the day, but that's not relevant here, note2: VS4 was so small !!)

  • Gotcha, thanks for the update!

So, as it stands now, with devices I've used (VS5, F8, and Venu3)

    • F8 and VS5 = clearly lacks bidirectional BB TrueUp; however, the Stress/HRV metrics captured by VS5 are later used by F8. In the Connect app, it does display a notice about wearing the watch 24/7 to get more accurate BBatt results.  With this arrangement, you have to discount any BBatt reads displayed by your VS5, but you can probably reliably trust them to a good degree for V8, because the V8 will utilize VS5 readings taken when V8 was not being worn??? You called this "one way" BBatt true up, which I think is an accurate reflection of the situation...

    • F8 and Venu3 = has true Body Battery Physio True Up where I take one watch off, put the other on, and they display the same battery. Pretty nice, but the Venu 3 isn't as small as my VS5 so it doesn't feel like as much of a "break" from wearing a watch as I hoped. It does NOT show the "wear 24/7..." advice on BBatt in Connect app for these 2 devices because it seems to understand that BBatt Physio TrueUp is happening
  • off topic I know but I never understood why Garmin made the VS5 bigger and bulkier compare to the VS4, it seems they went backwards? Okay the display is bigger (the VS4 creates sometimes issues with the horizontal display text font readibility) but this isn't really the main argument IMO for a band

  • There is some news on this as per this Garmin support page : https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=VOFJAsiXut9K19k1qEn5W5 the VS5 is now listed as compatible for BB Physio True Up. Slight smile

are we expecting a new firmware update soon for this or this has been activated on your servers and current firmware is enough ?

  • Spoiler alert : it's not working. I used my VS5 yesterday end of the day : it was not in sync. I slept with my new Sleep Monitor and ended the nigh with 100 BB level. Sync all devices and VS5 showing 60-70 (not sure the exact number) 30 minutes later after the shower. Fenix 8 was properly in sync.

So I guess we have to wait for a new version of the firmware- or may be it is a mistake on the support page Disappointed

  • Hopefully it's a mistake on the support page and they ment the VS6 ;-)

  • tested this morning the True Up Sync between a Instinct 2X (FW16.11) and a Vivosmart5 (FW 3.29) and while the steps and getting synced between VS5, I2X and Garmin Connect mobile nearly instantly (both devices are connected and active syncing) the Bodybattery Score IS NOT GETTING SYNCED neither to the devices nor to GarminConnect resulting in a false reading of the VS5 showing e.g. a Body battery score of 63 while the I2X shows a score of 62 same as Garmin Connect widget displaying 62. Whoever wrote thsi Garmin FAQ is just missleading and spreading false information about the VS5 capabilities. Wouldn't be the first time in my memories that a Garmin Software engineer marks somthing "done "on his to do list and in reality it's not implemented at all...

  • One week later can you please may be  let us know if this was a mistake on the BB page ? Or that a future firmware will actually make it work.

I've also tried yesterday to configure my VS4 as my primary device, use it during the afternoon (while F8 away), I also slept with ISM that gave me a BB of 100 at wake up, but only 85 displayed minutes later on the VS4. While my F8 (my primary training device at that time) displayed a 98 value that was aligned with Garmin Connect and expectations .

  • Hello!

My apologies, It is indeed a mistake in that support article. The list should have included the vivoactive 5 not the vivosmart 5. I have submitted a request to have the article updated.
