My phone got upgraded to Android14 recently. Since then the Music widget no longer works (on any Garmin device).
Any ideas?
Take a look at the support article Using the Music Control Widget Feature on a Garmin Device. There are some setup components in the Android section of the article that may help, specifically the Special Access option.
Yes, this was all checked and double checked. All permissions are granted.
Also, it does work from time to time (in about 1 in 20 tries).
I did find a workaround that seems to always work.
As mentioned when playing media from a streaming app (e.g. internet radio, Spotify,..) instead of locally stored media, the widget always works.
I found out I can do the following:
- Start media in a streaming app -> Widget works
- Stop media in streaming app and close streaming app
- Start media from locally stored media player -> widget works !!!
(if I don't do step 1 &2 it doesn't work)
It then keep working. But when I stop media playback for a longer time, it doesn't work anymore.
