Extremely high mileage issues

My Garmin vivosmart 5 is recording outrageously large mileage. How can I fix it? Just started today. It recorded 50 miles not 1.5 miles

The vivosmart does not have its own GPS receiver. It uses the GPS of the smartphone you have connected. Your fault is therefore more likely to be with the smartphone.
