Totally agree. Would like to wear my VS5 as a primary, with full support for HRV and recovery metrics, and the my Marq whilst training. Also, as I have written earlier, I would like to see better straps;…
My few tests is that the sleep score measured on the VS5 will not be taken into account in the Training Readiness score of the training device (I've tested with EPIX and FR265 as primary devices). May…
I see the same "Partially Compatible" message on the Vivosmart 5 when I select it as the primary wearable over my Vivoactive 4.
I would like to know what features are "imcompatible" on the Vivosmart…
Changed response as I am waiting for an update to my Fenix 7 to see if that changes my experience.
Note: support.garmin.com/.../
I wrote *fully* support which isn’t the case right now as you can see here

Does Garmin have any information on this, or is it another ploy to get us to buy more expensive watches? I know that Floor counting has been removed, but is that really important? What else is missing that is critical?
TrueUp does the following between the devices: Calories, Floors, Intensity Minutes, Steps, Step distance traveled. Of course no Floors gets done, so again what FEATURES are missing? Garmin?
In this way they push towards the competition! My vivoactive 4 suddenly became "partially compatible" too, but I haven't seen the vivoactive 5 on the market yet!
I think this novelty wants to hide some malfunctions present in the most recent units.
My Vivosmart 5 appears "fully compatible" in that it doesn't have the 'Partially compatible' message, alongside my Enduro 2 but unfortunately I don't have the option to select one as the Primary Training Device and am not sure which models would allow this, surely we don't ask need two watches like the Enduro 2 to activate this?
I'd add a screenshot but I can't see how, maybe it's my low rating :/
Following Splat Matt's now-deleted post this afternoon insisting this was possible, I selected my Vivosmart 5 as the Primary. Not only was the warning "Update Primary Wearable? Selecting a partially compatible device may impact training data accuracy. Are you sure you want to set Vivosmart 5 as your Primary Wearable?" advised, but after it was primary, there remained NO OPTION to select a primary training device, such as my Enduro 2.
Another issue of course is that the Vivosmart 5 does not track body battery [ETA: as a secondary device], despite it tracking sleep, movement and SPO2 and being part of Physio True-Up.
Have I been sold a pup?
You can change the primary on the connect.garmin.com website.
I deleted because I just noticed, while seemingly functional, my Fenix 7 has not updated 11.25 which allows for unified training support. I was going to revise my experience once the update comes through. Regardless I find having the Vivosmart 5 enough of a compliment to warrant keeping; as I enjoy wearing my mechanical watches.
In the end the data does not make me... I make the data.
Fair enough.
Anyhoo, I was able to change the V5 to primary in GC on the phone, as I said. But then no choice of primary training device. My Enduro 2 is on 10.46 so maybe I need to be more patient (not wishing to beta at this time).
Like you, I like wearing mechanicals too, so the V5 fits the bill perfectly, apart from not acknowledging body battery. Be nicer to sleep in too, not that the Enduro 2 bothers me overnight, it's the principle of Garmin's historically and still enduring fragmented approach to functionality smeared across their devices that really grates.
