Automatic steps goal - stuck?

I have been using "automatic steps goal" feature for a year now and with my previous Instict solar watch it worked as expected - goal changed depending on my activity from previous days. However with Vivosmart 5 it's stuck to value 7250 every day. I tried to disable it, set some random goal (which got applied correctly) and then enabling it again, but it's back to 7250. My 7 days average in Garmin connect is 5272 steps.

Is it a bug, or am I doing something wrong?

  • I did go through the hassle of complete factory reset - remove vivosmart from Garmin connect app, remove bluetooth pairing, fully reset the watch, set it up from scratch. Physio True up didn't sync a single data back to the watch on its own, I had to turn on my other Garmin watch (Instinct solar), which somehow triggered True up sync and I was able to get at least steps and intensity minutes to Vivosmart (other data is gone from the watch - HR, sleep and body battery history). Daily steps goal didn't budge, it stays on 7250 steps..

  • I have the same problem. My step goal will auto adjust when I use my Epix, but freezes in place when I use my Vivosmart.

  • Garmin fixed it in 2.93 for me, but forgot to mention it in the release notes and also that you have to re-activate the feature for it to "unstuck" (set fixed goal in device settings, sync it to the watch, set automatic goal, sync again, it should work afterwards).
