Hi all,
I received the Vivosmart 5 via mail days ago, and on day 3 it stopped tracking distance during runs and walks (those are the only two timed activities I've done that involve traversing distance).
It either says "0.0km" for distance and one time simply "--.--". I know the GPS is working, since it is tracking the route (colored by different metrics like heart rate, pace, elevation) and the pace. But for some reason the distance calculation is getting screwed up. If the distance calculation is a function of the pace, then it should be able to just integrate the timeseries of instanteous pace over time to figure out the distance, but maybe something in the code is getting screwed up?
Thinking it may be some internal mis-parameterization of my stride/pace, I did a factory reset of the device and unfortunately the issue remains.
One extra piece of info (fresh from today):
After the factory reset, the vivosmart "auto-started" a walk today since Move IQ / Auto Activity start was turned on, and the walk (a short, 1.1 km walk to the store) actually recorded distance correctly! So I know in theory the distance-calculating functions are in-tact, but for some reason they are just not being triggered when I manually start a run (and one time when I did a walk).
Has anyone had a similar issue and/or has advice for how to fix this?
With many thanks,
Conor
