Go to the device settings in Garmin Connect Mobile. Select activities. Add indoor rowing to your selection av activities. You may have to remove an activity already selected first as there is a limit to the number of activities on the device. I did just that, as indoor rowing is one of my main indoors activities.
Make sure to synchronize the device, to get the updated list of activities to the device.
