Wrong distance in walking activities

Despite I set my real stride in Garmin connect by entering the numbers of steps for a certain distance, everytime I record a walking activity the distance is always less than it should be (last walk stride was only of 85cm instead of 90)...

Someone with same issue?

  • I use the GPS of my iPhone. After a mountain hike (small steps) of exactly 5.4 km, the Garmin indicates a distance of 8.34 km. As if the distance is not measured but an estimate based on the number of steps. how to fix this?

  • I'm really concerned by this device... They give you the possibility to setup your personal stride but, SOMEHOW, they do not take it on account when doing walking activity... It's a totally nonsense... I had never had any similar issue with my old Vivosmart 3 and 4...

  • today I walked 4.5 hours in the mountains, 18000 steps. about 10km. my Garmin is connected to my iPhone. however, the summary says showbls a trip of only 2 km????

  • I have the same issue. Vivosmart 5 hooked up to iPhone for the GPS, and the walking distance is a massive overestimate of the actual distance covered. Why is this so? Surely the distance should be taken from the GPS not the pedometer sensor in the Vivosmart? Are you listening Garmin? We need a fix for this!

  • Watch to Phone GPS is nuts. I turned off GPS in the activity and have my stride set. Distance is pretty close, considering stride changes as you walk as does arm movement which is actually counting steps. Try this test. Watch on wrist for a measured mile, then watch on ankle for a measured mile...without GPS of course.
