Vivoactive 5 draining battery after 12.12 update

Hi, I updated my watch when the notification popped up and from then on my battery drains ridiculously fast. It's a fairly new watch, purchased in September and with my normal use, I only had to charge it once 5-7 days. Yesterday, I charged it while at work in late morning to 100% and today as I woke up there was only 10% left on the battery, and I didn't do any sport activities that day. At this rate, the watch is unusable since I'll probably run out of battery on my soccer practice tonight despite charging it right now. What can I do with this?

  • I updated today too to 12.12. After the update I had 57% battery, after 4 hours I am at 49%! That's 2% per hour. This way I will have 50 hours battery life WTF. Before the update I had 10 days battery life!

  • Just adding a me too to this one ... it's really frustrating that there isn't a downgrade button.  They need to start rolling these updates to a small volunteer group first to iron out these things.

I'd gone weeks in September where the bluetooth connection kept on dropping, that finally got fixed and now a new update is draining the battery ... they really need better testing before mass release.

I'm not sure, but I think the notification pushes have been a bit more hit and miss since the update too.

And, last night sleep tracking was off - I got to sleep around 11 but the watch reckoned 1am ... it's usually spot on.

  • I have a venu 3s and am having the same problem. After the latest update the battery is draining faster and faster. Fully charged when I went to bed yesterday and when I woke up today I was down to 70%.  I've tried connecting the watch to my PC, syncing it, and then turning it off without success. I turned it off before charging yesterday and that didn't help either.

  • 12.12 is such a downgrade ... battery draining, losing connection, having to pair with phone again, having to reboot the watch to restore connection.  WHY?!

Give us a way to rollback to 12.11 - PLEASE!

  • Does restoring to factory settings help, or will 12.12 still be there?

  • I have had the exact same issue. My watch is only like 2 months old and battery life has gone down to 2 days now.

I have fully factory reset the watch and its running default settings and still only last 2 days. Removed garmin connect app and deleted and readded Bluetooth pairing to phone, I have also done the recommended battery drain to 0% then charge to 100% etc. It has to be the 12.12 update.

Seems like its a wide spread issue.

  • I have the exact same issue on a 2 month old Vivo 5. Was lasting like 10 days until i did the 12.12.

Lasts maybe 2 days. I have fully factory reset watch, deleted and re added app on phone etc. Full battery charge then let run down to 0% etc.

All the recommended fixes and nothing makes a difference. The watch is on default settings and running the most basic mainly black watch face.

Factory reset leaves it on 12.12. Once firmware is installed its there for good, reset only clears user data and added apps etc.

  • Theres an update 13.7, hope it solves our draining battery issues.
