Can we have "Resume Later" functionality on our watch?

Hi Garmin-AmberD can you please add "Resume Later" functionality to our watch? I'm really missing that feature during some activities and it's hard to understand why less expensive Forerunner models have that functionality and Venu or Vivoactive 4 don't.

I've also seen that Venu 2 got extended pause in the new beta which is far from ideal and not equals to "Resume Later", can you implement this as a temporary solution for our watch too? It's far from ideal but better than nothing.

And yes I've already submitted the request to https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/ but it's always nice to hear from a live person whenever it can be done or not so I decided to post it in here in case that other people can join the request.

Yes it does, but if there were multisport watch like Forenner or Fenix with touchscreen I'd probably go that route from the start, but there are none at the current moment.

Yeah, the watch is useless during that period regardless.

Exactly, this conquers ability of watch of multitasking and cause a lot of irritation. That's why it's always a good idea to submit your vote for features https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/ and possibly vote in here as Garmin it seems, is listening to their users' request sometimes and implement them if they are audible enough.

yup, Garmin Vivoactive feels like an ugly duckling in this regard as from one side its cost in here are more than some Forerunners but at the same time it doesn't have resume later and hiding Training Effect from user which all Forerunners have from the start.

I once suggested they could have a Forerunner upgrade pack for the Vivoactive to get features like Training Effect, suggested workouts and Recovery Time. I would buy one...

Yeah, that would work for me too, if Garmin could just sell a software upgrade instead of real device, that would be ideal to me

One thing to note here is is you use a CIQ app to record an activity, you can pause as long as you want without without timing out. For example, with this app you can record a walk or hike, and pause 30 minutes for lunch with no problem: https://apps.garmin.com/en-US/apps/116a5b59-29ae-4397-a70e-907d7e5f8e44

Thank Jim, I know about your app and even tried to use it in the past. I love the amount of data it provides, but I've got very bad track comparing to built-in activities or even to other CIQ apps. And that happened no matter if I tried to switch save battery on or off. Maybe you're just using GPS only mode which doesn't allow to switch to GPS+Galileo. I've alos missed few tracks, your app seems to track just fine but in the end I've got blank one for some reason. Probably it would work better in mountains, but I never had a chance to try.
And what's most important, it doesn't allow resume later but only have endless pause which doesn't really allow me to use my watch in the meantime.

So instead I've tried another similar app which also have a lot of data which is customizable and also provide downloading and following track even from Vivo and Venu. It's called BF Outdoors and also free: apps.garmin.com/.../7c596292-e866-4dc5-abd0-8b8fe65d26a0
