Version 6.10 - Watch freezes on Activities.

Since version 6.10 the Watch keeps freezing while an activity.

After starting an activity the watch freezes after some seconds to minutes - have to hold power on for 15 seconds to reset watch. The activity started after reseting the Watch has no GPS data in Garmin Connect. No Map shows up.

Please fix it!

  • Since the upgrade my GPS connection hangs and takes forever to locate when starting an activity.  It used to be instant and I could start a run straight away.  I waited 2-3 minutes last night for it to connect and previously started a run and didn't realise there was no GPS and I had no trace of where I had run.

  • Please reach out Garmin-AmberD, I think my issue is the same.  When I start an activity the GPS takes 2-3 minutes to connect, if not longer.

  • This just happened to me too, screen completely frozen at 24 seconds in to my first run with the watch. I just got my Vivoactive 4s yesterday, so I am very disappointed to say the least... Those of you with the same problem, what have you done to unfreeze the screen? For me no buttons work at all.

  • I held down the top right button until the screen went black.  It took a little while.  Then I held the same button down again until it powered back up. That unfroze it all three times but you lose any data on your watch that hasn’t synced with your phone/PC. 

  • Ok thanks, that worked! Bummer that the data is lost though... hope this issue gets fixed soon.

  • I have the same problem.watch freez after 23sec and I had to do a soft reset. subsequently no GPS was recorded during the run.

  • Hello! Can I have you guys reply to this post if it happens on the activity start page or within the first 30 seconds of the activity? I know some of you had a sensor paired, are all of you by chance using a sensor that's connected to the watch and does this happen throughout the day?

  • For me it happened after a couple of minutes. I am not sure how many minutes it were but I guess it were more than 30 seconds. I had a Polar H10 heart monitor connected. So far the error occured once.Since then I recorded 16 other activities using the heart monitor without any problem.
