Version 6.10 - Watch freezes on Activities.

Since version 6.10 the Watch keeps freezing while an activity.

After starting an activity the watch freezes after some seconds to minutes - have to hold power on for 15 seconds to reset watch. The activity started after reseting the Watch has no GPS data in Garmin Connect. No Map shows up.

Please fix it!

  • The same thing happened for me today.

  • Same problem here..

It was freezing during a bike ride.

Update: My experience with new software releases is that you have to factory reset the watch. I did this and it seems like it solved the problem with freezing during activities.

  • I've got this problem twice already, first it was during the walk, and today it was during the run which was especially irritating, I was running and start to wornder why my HR is so low and then I realized that it froze and I exhausting myself for no reason, it's never happened to me before and 6.x betas were working perfectly.

I wonder if anyone is using other devices? Until recently I was using just HRM Dual and Garmin Tempe, but recently obtained foot pod though it wasn't connected during my first activity if I remember well, so maybe it has nothing to do with it.

  • Hello everyone!

Had the same problem. maybe this problem is from the backlight of the screen, it turns on automatically if the workout is in the evening, as I understand it.

P.S. Garmin please fix this !!! and technical support Garmin read this forum?

  • Had the same thing happen this morning during a bike activity. Gotta get into a habit of declining OTA updates until I have checked the forum for issues.

  • Experiencing the same. To me it seems to happen when activities use GPS as with Cardio Ive had no problem for multiple 1hr+ sessions.

  • Yes, looks ike anything with GPS fails.

I'll try to only use GPS, no Glonass nor Galileo add.. Maybe helps a bit till Garmin fixes.

  • Based on the lack of angry customers on the forum, this issue is probably not affecting many watch owners. You should compare symptoms and setup, to see if you have any unusual setting or IQ-addon in common. I have had lots of GPS (+ Galileo) sessions the last few days, and no issues

  • Nothing changed. Only new version 6.1

  • I know. But I guess you either were unlucky and your 6.10 installation failed somehow, or you have some setting or addon that is not compatible with some change in 6.10. As long as most customers are not affected, Garmin will probably not do anything. Your best chance is to do some internal comparison to find a common cause.
