Beta 5.46 appears to have fixed the CIQ battery issue

I have stayed at 5.00 and went to 5.46 yesterday. After my first night with it using the same CIQ face I have used for months my battery loss was about the same as 5.00.

  • This is great to hear! Thank you for this feedback!

Hi - the features on my CIQ face that are supposed to come on when the watch is tilted only come on if I go to a new screen and back to the face. Can you verify that this functionality is intentionally disabled in the Beta or is this a bug in the Beta or is this something the CIQ developer has to address?

Hey! Let me double check this for you and see what I can find out!

Hi there! I spoke with my team. They are aware of this and it is currently being investigated! Thank you for being patient while we look further into this report.

  • 5.46 FW raised my battery time from 3-4 days to ~5+ days. Same with 5.60 FW. About 1h 15min walk w/ GPS daily, also notifications on and ConnectIQ watch face in use. I don't use bluetooth while sleeping. I'd say that battery usage got clearly better, but not quite the same as it was 5.10 or earlier. Some tips, I put light to lowest setting and turned gesture light wake up off. Also not using weather widget (I have weather apps in my cellphone).

  • I dunno if anyone cares but new watch came on friday and I charged it yesterday! Four days was awesome. I then turned off bluetooth and only turn it on when I need to sync, and so far the battery has dropped 4% in 11 hours :D.

It was definitely the watch that was my issue. Even though I now can't do the Rundown challenge because I missed two weeks / about 60 miles of running (Tried syncing my fitbit, but it didn't count toward the challenge) but it was worth it.

Thanks for making this thread, because as mentioned before, I wouldn't have even considered it was the watch if this update hadn't fixed it for everyone else.

  • I am now wondering if I should consider opening a ticket for a replacement. I have tried to figure out why my watch uses more battery than I think it should. I regularly get 3-4 days, but my use is not very complex. It’s not crazy drain, but usually 17-24% per day. I had tried the 5.46 beta and am now on 5.60, but found no improvement with CIQ and nonCIQ watch faces.

    - Reset the watch when downgrading to 5.10 (was running 5.46 to see if that would help)
    - Now running 5.60 - with a full reset after the upgrade

    - Turned off PulseOX
    - Use basic watch face that is preinstalled
    - turned off most widgets
    - set brightness to 40% and short timeout
    - vibration to medium
    - one 20-30 minute non-GPS activity per day (elliptical)

With my use, I would expect 5-7 days of battery, but have never hit that. Any suggestions?

  • I dunno, honestly, my new one lasted 4 days and I have pulseox off, brightness at 10%, no gesture, timeout short, no notifications, low vibration, most widgets uninstalled. I probably have an off radar for how long it's supposed to last. I do an average of 1.5 hours of non-gps exercise a day. I've not had 5 days yet, though I'm hoping turning bluetooth off will get me over that line :D I do have moveIQ turned on, which I didn't have before, and I'm using a CIQ watchface, which I wasn't before (when I was only getting 2-2.5 days).

'm considering turning pulseox on if I get more like 6-7 days on this second bluetooth-off charge.

I also charged it for many hours after I received it, since they recommended that to some people in the forum. You could try charging it overnight, then doing the 'power cycle while plugged in' thing, and seeing if that helps? I guess I'll report back again if I do get more than 4 days with the replacement.

  • Thanks for this update, I am sorry your watch was bad but at the same time I am glad that this was it. If you know what i mean Slight smile
