I have stayed at 5.00 and went to 5.46 yesterday. After my first night with it using the same CIQ face I have used for months my battery loss was about the same as 5.00.

Great to hear!
I wrote a comment to https://forums.garmin.com/developer/connect-iq/i/bug-reports/battery-drain-issues-on-va4-and-4s-using-ciq-watch-faces-since-sw-5-10-release about the fact that SW 5.46…
I wonder if they will provide anything more than just these fixes as part of the public release following this beta, because, apart from the battery issue fix, it must be one of their most uninspiring…
There are internal versions of FW that never go public.
With FW versions, if they end in 0, they a production FW, if not 0, they are beta and need to be installed manually.
Assuming you get it before the 5.46 beta becomes a public release - the latest released version is 5.10 which does still suffer from poor battery life with CIQ faces. You may want to download 5.46 beta now and try the upgrade to compare on a brand new watch. FWIW I have been on 5.46 since I started this thread (2 weeks or so) and the only "issue" I have is that the second hand on my CIQ face does not reappear when tilting the watch.
I have been running 5.46 since very close to the posting and battery life is no better for me. I have used Tonix Classic watch face for a couple of years on VA3 and VA4. I upgraded to a VA4 about 4 months ago for the PulseOX functionality, as I had some health concerns and wanted to monitor it. However, I have tried turning off PulseOX and still don't get the battery life I did with VA3.
I just did a full reset to see if I can improve battery life. I went with basic non-CIQ watch face, removed almost all widgets, turned off MoveIQ, turned off PulseOX, and have one 20-30 minutes non-GPS activity per day (elliptical). My watch burns 20+% per day, which gets me 4ish days before I need to charge. My VA3 was going 3-4 days with a couple of hour-long GPS activities added (biking in the summer). I do get dozens of notification per day - SMS, calendar, Teams, Slack, etc. - which may contribute to the drain, but it's not changed since the VA3.
It's not the terrible battery burn that others have reported, but it's not what I hoped. Now that I've reset everything and the pain of setting everything back to my liking, going back to 5.10 doesn't seem that troublesome.
The beta is what I've been on since it came out as well. That's why I posted here, lol, I wouldn't have hijacked this thread for no reason.
Would've been so rude lolol
It was kind of the last straw because seeing it's now working for everyone else is why I think my watch is what's broken. Before, I was just waiting for an update.

Well that is not OK . It definitely made a big improvement for me - it seems pretty much the same as 5.0. I have asked this question before but I don't understand why there is no place to look to see what is using the most battery on the watch. My old LG Urbane Wear OS has this and that is 4 or 5 years old.
For Mac, you will need to download the Android File Transfer tool. Mac doesn't natively support MTP.
That android file transfer tool is annoying ... it seems to set itself up as an autostart program every time it's launched. GE complains if it's running.
I came here just to say that the night time battery drain has been plaguing me for 2 weeks now. Its mostly upsetting because troubleshooting has to wait until night and to narrow it down it takes a while. Even after two weeks, I wasnt able to pin point the cause. I reset the watch multiple times, I disabled and tried the multiple GPS types. I disabled bluetooth and Pulse Ox and I adjusted the do-not-disturb. I used combinations of the stock face and CIQ faces with no difference.
Once I updated to 5.46, the night time battery drain went away and even my daytime usage dropped to 0.300%/hr. Night time its about 0.500 but its nice to have all the 'health' stuff back on.
