Vivoactive 4 GPS

Hi, can I get some help? I bought a garmin Vivoactive 4 and from the beginning something is wrong with the GPS, running instead of showing that I'm running on the road it shows that I'm running through the bushes or on the crossroads, on the tracks and I'm going no route in total does not coincide with the real run, friends do not have this problem so I do not know what is caused by thisI've synced with garmin connect before running as well as garmin express, I've tried different GPS settings but it doesn't help either, I'm uploading some routes to see how it looks

I would say that is a known weakness with the Vivoactive 4(S) that the GPS accuracy is not among the best. My old Vivoactive HR tracks slightly better. An elevation offset is also very common.

Hello! Have you tried changing the GPS setting to GPS+GLONASS/GALILEO and the Data recording to "Every Second" instead of "Smart"? Here is a helpful article regarding our GPS and different troubleshooting tips:

Yes, I've already tried changing it and unfortunately it didn't help, it still shows that I'm running through water or through bushes ;( The link provided unfortunately doesn't work

Some Vivoactive 4 owners report that the accuracy is better when cycling than running. It can be related to the orientation of the watch. The antenna seems to work better when the watch face is pointing upwards.

So it's just this type of thing? Is there nothing you can do about it? Because you can't run with your hand up :P

You could try to turn the wrist 90 degrees towards your body (hand palm down) while running once, just to test if it makes a difference.

Same problem here. I was running so fast today, but GPS only indicated that I was running between 8:00 and 9:00 minutes an hour. Well, I am not the youngest anymore, but I really can't beat that.

Sorry about that! I have updated the link! Have you tried both different versions of the GPS, both with same outcome? What is the GPS version on your watch?

Yes, I tried all settings ;( My GPS version is 4.80 and software version is 5.10

Okay, do you let the GPS fully acquire also before you start the run? Do you notice the distance being off at all or is it pretty accurate?

yes the GPS always catches a fix, it lights up green then I run, yes I noticed when I set a point where I have to go back it directs me well but some 30-40 meters closer than the target point set + on the map tracks it always shows that I am running just 10-15 meters from the route I actually ran
