Turn off Bluetooth - completely

Can you completely turn off - disable the bluetooth on this device? There is a setting to turn it off, but is this just to stop pairing with the phone app? I want to be able to completely disable bluetooth.

Thanks

  • Unfortunately not. This question has also been raised a few times with Garmin here on the forums and they kind of evade answering the question saying Bluetooth turns off when you disable the phone connection. But all it does is disconnect.

  • Certainly would like to have that option. For security reasons and maybe it reduces battery use as well!!!

  • Found that Fenix 6 has an Airplane Mode available in the shortcutsmenu. Would be a nice solution for the VA4.

Thanks all for the input. My interactions with Garmin yesterday seem pretty consistent with Martin's points. They never answered my question directly and just referred me to the setting to disable phone connection. Love the watch...but kinda disappointed in the lack of clarity from the manufacturer.

  • Hello! I apologize your experience with our support was not what you had hoped. If there is anything I can do with answering your questions or providing feedback, I am happy to do so!  In regards to the Bluetooth being able to be disabled. The devices Bluetooth can be disconnected so that it is no longer paired to the phone. I provided a link to the manual with those steps. I understand you were already sent to this but still wanted to provide it for others as well.

  • Thanks for this information.

    But one question is open.

Does the vivoactiv 4 disable all bluetooth transmission?

Is there realy no wireless transmission from watch to envirement?

Or does the watch poll every seconds some radio transmissions?

So please, explain the people, if we disable the phone function, the whole bluetooth transmission stops and we have a safe woth on arms.

On vivosmart is was also possible to disable complete the bluetooth.

    Realy thanks
