Can you get the vivoactive 4 "Data Screen" not switch to "Rest" automatically after each set in a pool swim?

I have a vivoactive 4. I am looking for a way to have the swim "Data Screen" readout stay on rather than switch to REST after a couple of seconds when each swim set is finished. I understand how it is helpful to look at the "Data Screen" while running or cycling, but in swimming, you do not look at your the "Data Screen" while you are in the midst of the swim.  You look at it when that set is finished.  I would find it useful for an option to keep the "Data Screen" visible during the entire rest.

  • Hi Kevin! If possible please keep me in the loop about this as well! Considering that the Vivoactive 4 can record heart rate underwater it is super useful for checking HR/HR-zone when resting between intervals. On my FR 735XT, I use a HRM-Swim to do just that, that way I know that I am actually doing a Zone 3 effort if my "Max interval HR" is in my Swimming HR-zone 3.

    • May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?
    • May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
    • In what country do you live?
    • Yes, Se email on Garmin account
    • Yes,
    • Sweden

Hope this can be implemented on all devices that can record HR underwater! If so it would be a very good selling point for Swimmers and Triathletes (as a secondary watch, can't manage without the power meter functionality on from my bike Wink).

    Kind regards

    Andreas

  • I would also like this feature as seeing the last interval and total distance etc is essential while swim training.

  • Thanks for looking into it. It's important data when setting up intervals.

  • Surely, It cannot be that hard to get this sorted. They had this feature on my Vivoactive 3 - Come on Garmin the prices we pay this is basic stuff.

  • What happened to the feature request? It seems to me an indispensable feature when during an interval swim training I  want to know, how many intervals I already did ! Now I have to stress myself out after each lap out of breath to look onto my watch to see where I am in my number of intervals and only have 5 seconds till the screen changes into the rest screen in which there is no way to see other data than some rudimentary - unimportant - ones for me.

    Are you serious, Garmin ???????

  • Yes you may email me.  Yes you have permissions to view/access my Garmin Connect account.  I live in the US.

Right now the main feature I am looking for is for the rest screen to show how long I have been resting - which was the setting on my ViviActive 3.  I can't seem to find where to have it show elapsed rest time.

  • Has this feature request been resolved, and does it apply to Forerunner 265 series? I live with the irritation of having my watch switch screens during rest when swimming, or I'll pick the screen I want and turn the auto rest feature off altogether. I would like to set the data screen I want to look at when resting, though, which is the only time I look at it when swimming (duh). If there has been a fix to this, please let me know. I live in USA and you have the necessary permissions. Thanks.
