I was just wondering if there was anyway to get an aeroplane mode on the vivoactive 4.
i don’t want it just for flight ha but also to minimise radiation exposure.

  • I guess it depends on how you use the watch. If you disconnect the phone, you can still play music on a bluetooth headset, or use a bluetooth chest strap. As long as you don't use any bluetooth connections, the radio should stay quiet.

  • Ah ok. I dont use a bluetooth headset e.g.

But this meen, the bluetooth is only i a hold state??

I guess its is possible for garmin to disable the hole bluetooth hardware like aeroplane mode is.

My desire is, to get a watch without any radio transmission. If i make sports, i only like to have a watch who tracks my time and pulse, no handy, do radio, no transmissions. Only the peacefull wood :-)

  • I don't think you can stop the watch from listening for sensors when you start activities, but I think you can use it in a way that it does not transmit anything.

  • This sounds good. I would like to use a scanner one day and see what kind of radiation is generally in the area, i.e. everything. I think we'd just be big eyes. If the sensors are in listening mode, that would be great. Because we don't get any radiation.Nevertheless, it is very interesting that Garmin do not give 100% exact information there. If you were to put a scanner next to the clock, you would have to recognize something or not. It's a shame that you don't have such a part at home :-). That would be very funny.

  • +1 for airplane mode for multiple reasons, including batterylife. Other Garmin do have the option, why not VA4?

  • Realy good question.

But for now, it is also not clear, if its disabled or not...

Can you please confirm that all communication or all radiation is off when you activate the "Phone Bluetooth off" switch?
That means that radiation is no longer emitted and bluetooth is completely deactivated? Or what condition is the watch in?
The instructions also say "turn off Bluetooth technology".
We as customers assume that it is really over. And nothing more can be sent or received.
    Thank you very much
  • Hi there! Every device we sell is tested to ensure we meet all required criteria. That applies to all protocols that each devices uses.
