  • Well, I've experimented with disconnecting the watch from the phone completely except in the mornings to synchronise with Connect app once as well as for a GPS Based altimeter and barometer calibration daily.

I'm using an IQ watchface called Rails, showing altitude, barometer, steps, sunrise/sunset time as well as a seconds counter...

The device is using about 12% per 24hours, and I'm on day 6 (about 140h) and battery indicates 29%.

For me, luckily, IQ watch faces are not a battery concern but only issues I've found are graphical issues that have been fixed by developers.
V5.1 has introduced an issue where the watch shows disconnect and connect multiple times a day for me. The Bluetooth connection is fine on the phone, the Connect app actually causes the notification to occur.

  • That could be the reason, but I'd have to look it up if Thailand falls under this region. For some regions Garmin doesn't even include the SPO2 Pulse Ox feature Open mouth

  • Wow this is new to me, this is my 2nd vivoactive.

Mine do have the SPO2 features.

  • If you think your device doesn't fall under this restriction, you can download the V5.01 update and use the included rollback firmware V5.0. You can find the Vivoactive 4 firmware versions HERE

Direct link to Vivoactive 4 V5.01 Beta HERE

Please note, Vivoactive 4 and 4S have different firmware.

If you want to update to V5.1, you'll have to find someone willing to send it to you that has them backed up.

Note, it is your responsibility to check whether your device can run V5.0 or 5.1 by determining if its a ROW device (Rest Of World) or an APAC (Asian-Pacific) device. Also, if you do update manually, it's done at your own risk.

  • I switched to default watch face last week and I fully charged the watch on Sunday 10pm. At 10 am this morning it was on 60% with 2 GPS activities and one strength workout and for me that result was perfect. But since 10am this morning the battery dropped from 60% to 25% in less than 5 hours. So probably the problem is not only in the watch face. I will give a try with the SPo2 tonight but I am really getting fed up with this situation.

  • I did the same test. A few% dropped on the Garmin dial overnight. There is clearly a problem with third party applications here. Perhaps they keep downloading some data, e.g. about the weather, in the background.

  • WiFi does not work more. And battery drain increased twice or more.

  • It's now a week ago since I've downgraded the software from 5.10 to 5.0, did a factory reset, updated the software back to 5.10 and charged the watch back to 100%. I don't experience any huge battery drain anymore. I've first tested it with the default watchface, then with the watchfaces called Time Flies, M2 and now Crystal. I don't have to charged the watch for 4 to 5 days..

There is a strange thing that I have noticed the day after the new upgrade to version 5.10. In the mornng after the upgrade my watch suddently went into some kind of debug or programming mode. I thought it was some kind of bug, so I just turned off my watch. Not sure if that had fixed my battery issue or has anything to do with tis issue....

  • Thanks Martin, I will do a search for it... thanks again
