Third party HR chest straps

Have any AV4 owners used their watch with a third party chest strap. Eg. Pulsar strap. Does AV4 require propriety Garmin strap.

    VA4 do not work with the chest belt sensor from the french shop Decathlon. I have bought a garmin HRM dual.

    I use mine with a Polar H10 and OH1 all the time. No problems - there's an open standard for these things. For me the Polar chest strap has been much better than the Garmin strap I used to use - no drop outs vs many drop outs.

    I fully agree Polar H10 via ANT+ radio transmission - and paired the Polar Pro strap is the most stable (connection) and best "strap quality" I have and use.

    I do use the HRM Run (old version) from time to time but I use it on the Polar Pro Strap. I do not like the new straps from Garmin where sensor is "stuck" on the strap. Straps do have a limited lifetime... My HRM Run has lasted ? 7-8 years so far and provides reasonable run dynamics (Running dynamics not supported by VA4)

    Later HRM Runs might provide cleaner run dynamics but I still don't want or like them.

    Any ANT+ heart rate sensor will work. I use a wahoo tickr and it works fine.

    I use the Magene strap (sells on aliexpress, it's the cheapest I found) and it works very well. it is bluetooth and ANT +

    Ive tried with adidas micoach xcell bluetooth strap - it pairs but I can see only --- instead of HR on my watch

    I could echo this, as I've Magene h64 as my backup sensor, and it works as good as HRM Dual, and it works via Bluetooth or ANT+. The only problem I've seen with it is that it has short signal dropouts sometimes, like a second or two, but I was able to see them only by logging signal using Wahoo app or looking at this moment at my watch as they were showing my HR as 0.

    , have you experienced something like these? As I had two Magene and both behaved the same.

    no, i only use it on my VA4 and it works normally.. once it started to fail, and then i changed the battery and it resolved.

    Polar H10 works fine, very precise and I haven't had any connection losses /w Vivoactive 4
