How is your Battery Life on the newest firmware?

  • I changed my Vivoactive 3 Music to Vivoactive 4 and think I have a really bad Battery Life compared with the promised up to 7 days.
How is you Batterylife on the newest firmware and do you use android or iOS?

since there are Bluetooth Problems on ios13 it could possibly be the reason.

  • I would say you are very lucky , there are 100s of people around the world complaining about this, just based on this forum, but also just online comments on retailers website, I wonder what exactly is the problem. Is it the hardware or the software, my guess is hardware, they installed a smaller battery on a large batch of watches probably

  • I typically get 5 days of use out of the device, I do not use the SpO2 feature or the music streaming - but I do track activities with GPS.

I wonder if people with bad battery life are perhaps using custom watch faces which have high data update frequencies on some data fields. Constant heart / step rate updates on the main watch face causes a lot of update cycles, which drains the battery.

I'm using Infocal myself, but I am not using any of the fast - updating fields. This watch face also has a low-refresh mode which limits the screen refresh to once a minute.

Connected to Android 10, I also fully reset the device after the update.

  • I also have had good battery life, but I am probably not the typical case.  I am 10.25 days since my last charge and am at 36% (on pace for 15+ days).  I have had about 2.5 hours of GPS and some indoor walks and runs. This is an extreme battery performance for me (typically 10-12 days).  I have noticed that being less active (steps) in these recent times has increased battery life a couple days or so.

I don't use notifications, pulseox, or keep bluetooth on all the time. But the biggest battery saver for me is using a pre-installed Garmin watchface and not displaying data that frequently updates like heart rate.

  • I have had mine since Christmas and have complained about the dismal battery life from about day one. I have a standard simple garmin watch face with no HR or steps or anything on the face. I do not use SpO2 tracking, but do use occasional gps walking tracking and activity tracking.

I only ever get 3-5 days of battery life, even with absolute minimal use testing I have done. ONCE, i had a weird thing happen where for like 36 hours, it stayed at 100% but I suspect that was a glitch because it suddenly reverted and used a lot. I do notice if I turn off my watch and on again, the battery % is never the same as it was when I turned it off (usually it goes up, which is just weird).

With this latest firmware update a few weeks ago, I am having a regular problem with bluetooth disconnecting. I have to turn off the watch, turn off bluetooth, and restart my phone and the watch and turn on BT again for it to reconnect. Meanwhile, until I notice it, it uses a LOT of battery trying to connect. It is annoying. I am almost ready to turn off the BT function but then what is my smartwatch for if I cant have it actually doing anything smart...

My long-term average is 1.786%/hr, and that is with really minimal use. Frustrating.

  • Your calculations do equate to my GPS usage. I probably have been lucky not only with the VA4 but also my 235 (now sold) my VA3 (now sold)  and my Fenix 5X which I still have. I did have a problem with 5X battery which was caused by the WiFi so I stopped using that and all was well again. All of the watches have had good battery life. I only use simple watch faces and only ever load one at a time so if there is a problem I know what’s caused it and delete as necessary. My wife has a VA3 and she gets the advertised battery life out of that.

  • Una cosa es que te dure poco, como a mi , y otra es el problema de BT , tendras que resetear el reloj

  • This week I've had approx. the same number and total duration of GPS activities and  the battery lasted 5 days (I would probably get 6 without GPS activities). Before the latest fw update it would have been probably 7 days. I also use rather simple watchfaces (e.g.Titanium, no seconds, no HR) and power saving settings. I guess that before the update my VA4S battery life would have fulfilled the promised specs. Yours seems to exceed the specs, so you are lucky :-)

  • Acabo de instalar el Whacface titanio , a ver si mejora el consumo

  • v4.5 - 2-3 days dependent on activities - NO GPS activities (they are on the wrists of my 2 kids) - but roughly 45 min recorded activity per day.

But yes very disappointing battery life.
