Custom Workouts no longer syncing

I am now unable to sync new Custom Workouts to my Vivoactive 4s after updating the firmware to SW 4.40. With the previous version, everything was working perfectly and really enjoyed and loving it to creating my Workouts. If a schedule the Workout, it seems to work, but I don't always want to schedule the workout to do the workout. Can you please fix or direct me to downgrade back to the previous version?

  • I have a similar problem with the Vivoactive 3. No amount or repairing has fixed it, but I did create many workouts. What I get is some of the workouts in the future, but not today's. I will go through Connect and delete all my old workouts to see if I can get today's workout to show up. Why it would not prioritize today over history is a mystery.

  • There is some type of workout limit. I had to delete old workouts one by one to permit today's workout. It is very tedious to delete old workouts, but workouts completed three weeks ago prevented today's workout from showing up on the watch. I will submit a request that current workout prioritize over history.

A few days ago my watch had a software update. Unfortunately nothing has changed regarding the issue.

  • Hi Ned, I had my update yesterday morning. Also the same. Looks to me that the updates that we receiving so far is only minor, bug fixing updates, no feature updates so far.

  • Workouts does not sync for me neither (only tested run-type) No.problem syncing and connecting, just no workouts. Can only see three workouts in the menu, which seems like default ones. Very annoying.

  • Hi, 7593376. It is very frustrating when workouts don't sync or seem to work and you might have to do what Joost H and I had to do in the end, but before going that root of removing the pair in the app and Bluetooth from the phone, resting the app and re-pair again, first do the following whether this will work. Delete all the pre-installed workouts on the watch, which you will never use anyway (from all types of workouts). If you want, you can leave 1 or 2 for backup. Now create your workout, save it, and sync. Note: sometimes there is a slight delay when it will appear on the watch. You may need to exit to the watch interface and back to the Workouts before it appears. It is also important that your workout should fit into the main categories of the watch, eg. Strength, Cardio, etc. From here choose your exercise. If you don't find what you're looking for, then choose the closest or the one with a similar core function and use the note portion to define your activity (at least, that is what I do). There is a general activity name like run, workout, walk, or warm-up if you want to keep it simple. It is important never to use the "Custom"  category as this will not sync at all. This feature seems to be reserved for the Forerunner, Fenix, and other multi-sport watches.

Creating the initial exercises takes a long time, especially if you create something with similar muscle training, but is worth it in its end, if you use the Garmin Connect to save all the exercises in the Garmin Cloud. You can always re-sync an older workout when and if required. Ps. There is a limit of workouts that can be saved on the watch.

  • Hi, I just had this same issue. I deleted all the pre-installed workouts and magically my own showed up. As others have noted, I suspect there is a limit. I had a lot of pre-installed running workouts.

Most (if not all) of the pre-installed workouts are still available from the web site, so you can always add them in later if you want them.

  • How do you delete these preloaded workouts?

  • Hi, shayharv. On the watch, press the Start/Go/Stop (top button) and select any workout category, e.g. Strength. When you get the Ready state, swipe up from the arrow (bottom to top), then select Workouts. From the Workout list, select any of the Preloaded Workouts, then swipe up until you see the Delete option. Select Delete and select the X to delete. You can do this for all the preloaded and custom workouts you created. PS. to go back, swipe either left to right or press the Lap/Back button.

  • Yes, I found the same. I wanted to revise workouts (usually add reps) and found the watch wouldn't update. Deleted a few old ones, and magically, all is fine now.
