Custom Workouts no longer syncing

I am now unable to sync new Custom Workouts to my Vivoactive 4s after updating the firmware to SW 4.40. With the previous version, everything was working perfectly and really enjoyed and loving it to creating my Workouts. If a schedule the Workout, it seems to work, but I don't always want to schedule the workout to do the workout. Can you please fix or direct me to downgrade back to the previous version?

I have the same issue on this firmware for the VivoActive 4.  Having custom workouts for me is one of the primary reasons I use the watch, so a quick fix would be highly appreciated. Thanks! :)

    SW 4.40
    GPS 2.90
    ANT/BLE/BT 4.30
    Wi-FI 2.60
    TSC 2.00
    Sensors 3.20
    WHR 20.04.70
    Connect IQ 3.1.7
    BMX 0.5.2
    Secondary BMX 0.5.1

  • I have seemed to resolve my issue. I decided to delete some of my workouts, including the ones preloaded on the watch and retry to sync a custom workout and whalah - it worked. Even tested different test workouts and that also worked. So, I don't know if the pre-loaded or previous workouts somehow blocked the new uploads after the upgrade or that there was already a few loaded, but I am just glad that it is working now.

  • I'm thinking there's a limit as to how many you can have on the watch, and once you hit that limit, you need to delete some to download new ones.

I got it to work after removing the pairing between my Android phone and the VA4. (first remove from Connect App and then also remove it from the connected Bluetooth devices in in the Android settings).

After re-pairing, I could sync workouts again. However, then I ran into a lot of other weird Bluetooth pairing and sync problems which in the end forced me to do a hard reset of the VA4. After more than three hours of problem solving and restoring my settings, I could finally start running.

The VivoActive 4 is a great watch and it's painful to see that the software quality is so damn low :(

For me this couldn't be the issue since there were only three presets present on the watch.

  • It is just funny that it started right after the upgrade, but I think you may be right as it seems 8 custom workouts is the maximum. I tried to add more than 8 and only the last 8 is available. I would then just suggest that they build that into the app to inform you that you reached your maximum and maybe suggest to delete a few older workouts or something in that sense.

  • I am glad I did not have to do that. I did consider that though if all else fails, but from my experience with other tech, it invites other problems to solve before everything starts working again.

I have the same issues. I can't sync any custom workout. I already tried removing current workouts and adding new ones but it doesn't sync. I also can't sync any changes I make to current workouts. I don't want to have to hard reset like Joost H did. Hopefully they will fix it in a feature update.

I have the same problem, not even reset helped. Its so frustrating. Only way is to get the workout into a specific day to a calendar and then, when you press Cardio, its gonna pop up, yet its far from ideal.

  • Hi Ned, I, later on, did half of what Joost H did as my sync became inconsistent. I remove the Bluetooth connection, delete the watch from the Connect App and sync again (I did not reset the device) and things started working again. I have noticed after the new update to 4.50, things were a lot better though, but pure Custom Workouts is a no go. I either have to go for Cardio or Strength and choose an activity closely related or just use cardio, workout or the walk or run that does not fit, then use the description box to identify the activity. This seems to work as an alternative, but can be a pain to create as searching through the activities can be a tedious process as some of the activity naming is nowhere close to my workout programs. But at least I get much better and in-depth tracking than the Fitbit I had. It would surely help if features where consistent and improving and a little more clear than having to find out later that it is not actually working and you have to go about it alternatively.
