Venu Sq 2 not calculating VO2 Max since v2.59

Since updating to system version 2.59 my Venu Sq 2 is no longer computing VO2 max scores when I do a running activity. VO2 max was updated for every running activity for six months before this update. I have done a factory reset and used a heart rate strap to try to get a VO2 max score to no avail. Is this a bug or is there something else I can try?

  • I’m sorry but how is that a cop-out answer? It makes sense to me, plus it’s a vo2 max ESTIMATE- not medical grade data.

Complaining on here is going to get you nowhere.

  • It does not make sense : the value should be the same but the date of the calculation should be updated

  • I reached the support for assistance... they just told me to read the help page. No acknowledgement for a bug so far.

  • My watch is also randomly updating the values now and it's never after a run. It would randomly update after I lift some heavy boxes or go for a walk or bike without a power meter...etc. and the values are laughable. My stable VO2max before this cursed update rolled was 49. Ever since it went up to 50 for a few weeks and now basically dropping every other week. I just checked and it's 46 from today.

I contacted support twice and sent them the Garmin folder and all other info. Garmin fix this *** or roll back the update at the very least!

This was my first Garmin watch and most likely to be the last after the terrible software and service support I'm seeing from this so called "premium" company.

  • Same problem here. Not updated since November 28th.

  • Sunday I was sick and bed ridden, yet my watch in all its wisdom decided that I did an activity worth updating the vo2max for. My current VO2MAX is now 44 according to the watch!!

My actual vo2max is 49 and nothing has changed in my fitness level, or it increased slightly since.

At this rate my watch indicated VO2Max will be zero in 6 months. Customer Support only requests info from me, and then never gives a reply. I am truly disappointed in this company and looking at alternatives for my next fitness watch.

  • I can't decide if it's hilarious or annoying that today's update lists fixing the VO2 Max issue in spite of the fact that support never acknowledged this as a bug.

  • Wow, thanks for posting as I didn't know there was an update so just installed 2.64

Honestly cannot believe it's listed as the reason for the fix in the new software version https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/venu-sq-2/363453/firmware-version-2-64-for-the-venu-sq-2-is-now-available

A bit of communication and acknowledgement would've gone a long way!

  • On the watch itself it only lists system stability improvements. The vo2max fix is only listed on the website xD

I guess Garmin is too ashamed to admit it took them this long to fix this bug, and that they gaslit their customers along the way.

Anyway gonna go for a run on the weekend and see if my VO2MAX can be finally updated correctly.

  • Vo2 max does work again.
