Google voice assistant issue

Hello

I updated my venu3 to latest firmware (13.19) just a few minutes ago and I was happy to read in changelog report "Improvements to Voice Assistant interactions with various Android phones"

  1. My happiness stopped just later to have a long press on central button of my V3 SmileJoy

I've not any ideas about to solve it.

In others post, anyone suggest to unistall Google app in Smartphone and don't update it to last version. I done it but without solutions.

Last idea is to perform a factory reset to V3 but I'm almost certain that it no works.

Any experiences about? Advices?

Thank you

  • So what Garmin was trying to lead us to believe as a "fix" to this many months long failure of the Venu 3 to perform as advertised (regardless of the fact it used to), sounds like it is not a "fix at all. Was this merely an attempt to keep everyone from demanding a refund from Garmin for it's failure to fix a very well known deficiency in a major functionality that many of us relied on, and was a prime feature that influenced our purchase of a Venu 3? Besides going very public with this defect and giving Garmin a huge black eye in the smartwatch market, is there any other recourse we might have? Is a class action lawsuit possible? Clearly, this ridiculous ongoing issue needs to be addressed in some way that Garmin will finally sit up, take notice and FIX the f'n issue.

  • What I don't understand is that none of the online gadget sites such as "Wearable", "Engadget", "Gizmodo", etc.... never mention this functionality not working?  Are they afraid to say anything bad about Garmin because Garmin will put them on the blacklist and they won't get anymore freebee stuff?  Why is it nobody except in forums talk about this functionality being promised and not working?

  • @brianrap

You anticipated my thought. I was just about to write that it is USELESS for us to complain here because Garmin has no intention, no priority to solve this problem and perhaps even the inability to do so. So, we keep the product like this because those who buy Garmin do so mainly for the Sport part, or we have to act legally. Maybe you in the USA are more protected against companies that do not respect the rules. Here in Italy it would be like trying to get to the moon.
I highlighted this problem on Amazon.it because those who buy must know that the Venu3 does not work with voice commands and calls. I thought it was a ban on Asian smartphones but I read that it does not work with the Pixel either.

  • Ah Ottimo! quindi conviene chiamare Garmin invece di perdere tmpo qui?

Guarda bisogna sl aspettare....

  • I wonder if they online gadget sites/reviewers even know about the defects. I suspect that most of the reviewers on those sites would not even be wearing a nearly 2 year old watch given the dozens of new products that have been released since the Venu 3 debuted. I was thinking about what Garmin might do if all of their social media pages were flooded with reports from Venu 3 owners about the terrible customer service given the lack of communication and seemingly lack of interest and/or ability to remedy a defect in one of the primary watch functions. Seems reasonable to me that if we can't get satisfaction from Garmin the least we can do is let other potential customers know about the issues with the company and product so they can at least make a fully informed buying decision.

  • Nice idea. My last post here they deleted, because I posted a link to the google android developers page (there they describe how to implement the new mediapipe from google into apps and what that recommend). I also said, that android 16 is not the solution. Google changed the communicatons ways and the libarys

Mod note: , not deleted. It was automatically flagged for review due to the external link. I approved it just now.

  • The only way is to return the watch as not working.

Return the goods to the seller as not fulfilling the manufacturer's promises.
In Europe, any manufacturer selling goods specifying their functions enters into a contract with us. Any function that does not work can be a reason to return the goods and money to the buyer.
Promising to fix a bug in Android 16 is plain stretching and playing for time because even the cheapest bluetooth speaker can work well with voice assistant.

So returning Venu 3 as not working as producer offered is the only way to make Garmin understand what they're doing wrong. If they don't respect their customers, they should respect lack of money

  • I'm contacting office of fair trading to look into returning as faulty goods failing that it'll be small claims court as had a skin full

  • Just posted this to Garmin's facebook page. I would love to see all their social media flooded with posts like this to warn other consumers. "Why don't you get your engineers to fix your existing models that don't function as advertised before selling any new product. Voice assistant and phone functions on Venu 3 watch have not been working for months when paired with Android devices and all we get from Garmin is they are working on it. Then they said Android 16 should resolve it but numerous owners of the watch that have received Android 16 report the issue still exists and the watches STILL don't work as intended. This has been going on for months and needs to be remedied now."
