Heart Rate Way Off after 13.17

Venu 3 automatically updated to the 13.17 software. After update, my heart rate data is not even close to accurate. It's worse when doing activities (watch says 60s, Heart Rate is 130s) but also off when not in activity by +-20.

contacted Garmin support multiple times and they tell me there has been no issues with the update and heart rate. My data was fine before I updated and very accurate

anybody else have this problem?

  • All-

Thank you for your participation in this forum thread.  So that I may assist you further, please reply with the following:

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
    3. In what country do you live?
    4. Did the installation of this beta software cause a change on the watch, or did you observe this in ANY previous software version?
    5. Please Specify how the HR readings are wrong (high, low, dropping out, by how much)
    6. What activity profile was selected on the watch?
    7. What were you actually doing during these activities? The more detail you can provide the better
    8. What were your hands doing? Were you holding anything? Clenching a bar? Anything that would put pressure on your wrists?
    9. What are you comparing the heart rate to? Another watch? A HRM sensor, a physical reading? Details off an exercise machine? Perceived effort?
  • I also observed the same since the last two updates. When I go in a 45 minutes run, the first 30 minutes HR is showing around 130 and then suddenly starts counting properly and goes up to 165 BPM for the last part of the Exercice. I also have to play a lot with the positioning of the watch in my wrist.

  • I face the same issue. Starting an activity with 70bpm, heart beat rate rises. Then suddenly Garmin measures only around 60bpm. This was not the case with the former version.

  • Not to be rude. I understand you are trying to help, but i been through this at least 3 times with customer service on the phone.

Your customer service has told me that nobody else is having these issues with the new software update. I created this post to show you that there are other people having this issue after the update. So I think it is time to start looking into your software. It was perfectly dine before you guys decided to brick these watches with a useless update.

Also your customer service has told me, to fix the problem I should purchase a chest strap for more accurate readings. Why should I have to spend more money on another product when I spent $400 on a watch? You guys are supposed to be top of the food chain in fitness watches, I shouldn't have to purchase another device to get accurate measurements when the watch had accurate measurements 2 weeks ago.

Please look into this issue both on this forum and reddit. ALOT of people are complaining about all their stats being off after this update. Push out a new update to fix please...

  •  I understand why you are frustrated and I am sorry that you had an experience with customer service that left you feeling like we aren't concerned. That being said, we are concerned. However, we are not seeing this consistently amongst Venu 3 / 3S customers and have been unable to reproduce the behavior in house. We are hoping folks can help identify the variables needed to reproduce and understand the behavior, hence the list of questions.

  • I found out that it’s GPS related. Activities without GPS are not affected. But whenever I do an activity using GPS (eg walking) then the measured heartbeat is too low.

  • 1. Yes, you may email me

    2. yes, you can go into my connect account

    3. USA

    4. Yes, my HR, stress, hrv, body battery, everything measured by the rear optical sensor is way off. It only started happening after the recent SW update.

    5. HR is wrong, either too high or too low than true HR. sometimes off by 20 bpm low or high

    6. I have used treadmill, run, walk, strength. Even while not in an activity it is off.

    7. I am doing what I always have done. I have had this watch for over a year with no issues.

    8. "I don't know where to put my hands" Ricky Bobby

    9. I am comparing the HR data to both a finger pulse oximeter and my Polar H10 chest strap. The Chest Strap is not connected to my watch, it records and sends data to the Polar app only..

  • My HRV readings have gone to *** since the update.

  • Not heart rate data per se, but my HRV readings have plummeted since the update.

  • everything that the sensor on the back reads is way off. same with hrv for me as well. I was high 40s, low 50s for hrv overnight. now I can't break out of the 20s. really tanked. HR off, stress off. I don't know what they did. they keep denying there isn't an issue..
