Anyone else having battery drain after the latest 9.24 update?

I purchased my Venu 3s about a month ago and have been very happy with it until the 9.24 update.  My battery life was 18-20% per day consistently with all features turned on.  After the 9.24 update it's been 33-35% per day.  I unplugged it from the charger this morning at 5:00 am and didn't put it on or do anything with it.  Checked it at 9:00 am and it had dropped 9% with no use.

My normal use is usually from 5:30 am to 9:30 pm so I was seeing a little over 1% per hour and I was expected to get a full 5 days out of it.  I've owned many Garmin watches and never had a problem like this.  Anyone else seeing this issue after updating to 9.24?  I fully feel like this is software issue since it was fine before the update.

Anyone have any suggestions to fix it if you found a solution?

  • The issue is back on my Venu 3s (Oct27 2024).  It started draining over 60% in one day with no changed settings and no workout or GPS tracking in the last few days.  Normally it drains only 8-10% per day with constant HR and step tracking.

  • I an only recently seeing a significant drop in battery life, approx 15% today in the 11 hrs since I fully charged it. My VENU 3S watch software says version 11.0.

  • The only thing that worked for me was to not keep my watch connected with my phone via bluetooth 24x7. I now only connect my phone once or twice a day to sync data. My battery is lasting 10 days easily with 1 hour of gps activity per day

  • which is hardly the behavior of a _smart_ watch should have - especially as Garmin advertises the Venu series. Without the 24/7 connection to the phone you loose all the notifications and phone related items.

  • I agree, with 24x7 connection to my phone the battery life reduces to half or less, 5 days at max. I understand this wont work for most people but I hate notifications on my phone already but such is the life we have build around technology now, so getting notifications on my watch is the last thing i want. I do connect my watch when I'm out so i dont miss an important phone call but that's pretty much it.

  • Thank you thank you and thank you!  I purchased my original Venu 3 in June, then about end of September it did an automatic upgrade of software!  Battery life went from 6 days to 36 hours.  Called Garmin got a replacement/refurbished watch!  Charged it up and Bam automatic software install back to 36 hours of battery.  This time I called and was rather upset, so they sent me a brand new watch.  Worked like a charm for about 2 week staying charged for 6 days then last week the install happened and back to 30 hours of battery.  I tried what you suggested and today is day 4 and my battery is at 87% with 1 day of running!  Thanks so much!

  • Had my Venu 3 for 2 months and at first it was lasting 9-10 days but has plummeted in the last week after two software updates. I lost 34% charge in 18 hours, half of that overnight plus one 40 min GPS walk. In the last couple of days I've a) switched the watch on and off after GPS activities b) turned my phone off overnight to kill the Bluetooth connection and c) toggled my watch face away from an IQ one to a default then back again. One of these has worked and I'm back to 8-10% for 24 hours. I'll try to isolate which one it is.
