Detailed battery life on the Venu 3

Been using the Venu 3 for the past 2 weeks.

Charged the battery last Wednesday night and now 7 days and 12 hours later, my battery is down to 3% (and it shows 12h left). So I am assuming 8 days of battery life.

Things I did:
Usual tracking of all metrics, my sleep is inconsistent (I had like 57-58 hrs of sleep in the past 8 days, on some days more and on some less), 2 hours of run using All system GNSS, 1 hour of badminton, 2 pulse ox readings (turned off for the rest of the time), no ecg and some 50-60 notifications on the watch ( did not reply to any notification from the watch, just dismissed them and  I deliberately turned off my phone Bluetooth to do this battery test).

So that is 8 days of battery life. Definitely far from Garmin's 14-day battery life. Does anyone else have similar issues? I am on the latest 8.25 firmware and do not use AOD. I was expecting 10 days of battery life at least.

Edit: Gesture mode on, Brightness set to 20%.

  • I have Venu 3 for over 2 months already.

    AOD off. Gesture modes on

One of the default Watch face with 6 datafields.

    Auto Brightness.

Heart rate sensor and SPO2 sensors are on all the time even during a day.

    Move IQ on

Every day health snapshot, ECG from time to time. At least two minor gps activities (10-30 mins) every day + couple more gps (2-6 hours) a week and breathing excercises.

Tracking battery life with an 3rd party app.

I had 5-6 days of battery life with sw 7.07 which is great for me and my usage.

8.25 was installed few days ago... so still testing.

  • Turn off auto-brightness, I feel it is too bright sometimes and you might get an extra day of battery life. To be frank, health snapshot and GPS every day, and still 5-6 days of battery life are great.

do you have BT on and connected phone?

    how many notificatins per day?

    how many gestures?

  • I do have bluetooth connection turned on all the time.

I guess that amount of notifications is relatively low for me. I would say 10-20 per day (including move notification, calendar, BT disconnecting/reconneting, messages...)

I am not able to tell how many gestures per day I do...

One more thing that might be relevant...or not... I didt have WiFi connection set up...

Thanks, in my case I have much more notification ~200-300 per day.

I have stored 2 WiFi networks but I hope it's used only in case of FW update.

  • Wi-Fi is used for syncing your music, checking for software updates, and also uploading any activities you did, to the Garmin Connect.

  • I believe that Pulse OX is the main drainer. Most people will want this active, at least at night. With that turned off, which it is by default, you should gain almost double battery life. So expect between 7 to 3 days with Pulse Ox, depending also on other settings like AOD. Everything turned on, I believe this watch will drain its battery in about 3 days with moderate workout (1 hour per day) with GPS and music.

Never tried it though. Still a lot better than iOS and WearOS watches.

  • That's true Pulse Ox will reduce the battery life drastically. I never turn it on and keep it on-demand only.

  • My battery life is even wors; after a full charge it states 14d, the next day it shows 8d and at the end of day 2 I only have 10% battery life left. I hardly use GPS, gesture mode on, also 20% brightness. I am pretty disappointed by the battery performance of this watch where Garmin advertises 14d of battery life
