Detailed battery life on the Venu 3

Been using the Venu 3 for the past 2 weeks.

Charged the battery last Wednesday night and now 7 days and 12 hours later, my battery is down to 3% (and it shows 12h left). So I am assuming 8 days of battery life.

Things I did:
Usual tracking of all metrics, my sleep is inconsistent (I had like 57-58 hrs of sleep in the past 8 days, on some days more and on some less), 2 hours of run using All system GNSS, 1 hour of badminton, 2 pulse ox readings (turned off for the rest of the time), no ecg and some 50-60 notifications on the watch ( did not reply to any notification from the watch, just dismissed them and  I deliberately turned off my phone Bluetooth to do this battery test).

So that is 8 days of battery life. Definitely far from Garmin's 14-day battery life. Does anyone else have similar issues? I am on the latest 8.25 firmware and do not use AOD. I was expecting 10 days of battery life at least.

Edit: Gesture mode on, Brightness set to 20%.

  • I had the exact same experience. Even without always on display switched on, the battery only lasts about 7 days.

I can't say whether this would be better without the beta update because I went to the beta update 8.23 immediately after installing 7.07

  • Oh. I am on stable firmware, did not do the beta.  Let's see if any mod or anyone else can comment and let us know what is happening.

Well even worse but when turned off also gesture (neet to tap to screen) and brightness to 10% and oxy off, Move IQ off, BT connected to phone all the time, looks 9% per day... still in testing

  • Oh I forgot to mention that, mine is gesture enabled, brightness is set to 20% and the pulse ox is off. Let me edit the original post.

9% day should last you 11 days.. But did you do any activity like GPS or any run or hike?

Mine is 8 days, so approx 12.5%/day. It's not bad, I don't mind, but Garmin estimates 14 days (7.2%/day) and that is what worries me haha.

Edit: My battery is at 96% and I shifted to turn off gesture mode, let me try this.

No no activity in case ~9% per day.

So 14 days seems absolutely not realistic.

Realy disappointed, thinking about change and use Huawei GT 4

  • Oh, I am not disappointed, I am just wondering what's going on. I previously had the Vivoactive 3 and the battery life was close to what Garmin had estimated.

Oh, I won't change my watch for that reason, and I don't trust Huawei with any data haha.

  • I kinda understood what you mean (by using Google Translate). Some of your assumptions are wrong. Of course, we can't use Pulse Ox (pulse ox drains the battery a lot), and Garmin says no activities, and use the default watch face and default brightness. In that case, the battery should last 14 days. Check the link below for a detailed estimation by Garmin for both Venu 3 and 3s.

I had a 2-hour GPS workout and 1 hr non-GPS workout, but all the workouts use all the LEDs (for better HR accuracy), so my guess is 13-15% of the battery is gone just for that, which is roughly 2 days of Garmin's 14-day usage. So based on my usage (I don't use the default watch face, but use one of Garmin's pre-loaded, which shows the magnetic heading all the time), I should get like 10 days, but I am getting 8 days, 2 days off. It's not huge, but still noticeable.

well im surprised that garmin is not so precize have a look youtu.be/KAZJPQv6kiU

seems GT4 has more precize heart rate and gps as well :)

  • HR is a function of many things. Skin color, the amount of hair on your skin, wrist size and watch size, and a few more. I know that video of Qualified Scientist, but he does mention that it is a single person, meaning the data is validated only for his wrist (and the same cannot hold true for everyone). On the other hand, have a look at DCR's review (Link: Venu 3 review) and you will find that Venu 3 HR matches the chest strap HR in almost every scenario (because the elevate v5 sensor is the same as in Fenix/Epix models). The same holds true for GPS, according to DCR, it is pretty accurate. You can also have a look at DesFit's Venu 3 review on YT.
