Venu 2: Hydration Widget will not save input without an active Bluetooth connection

1. Adding a glass looks like it was added but then when the watch display is off and I turn it back on it goes back to 0.

2. It doesn't reset in the morning unless I sync the watch with phone.

3. The app only barely works when the watch is connected to the phone. Even then, it glitches a lot.

  • I am having the same problem. It will consistently keep track of the cups of water if I have a bluetooth connection with my phone. Without the active bluetooth connection is usually doesn't keep track. Sometimes after multiple tries it will save what I input. I have video below.

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you? Yes
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account? Yes
    3. In what country do you live? USA

  • Hidration trakking currently works when my watch and mobile are connected. This is because I can add a cup on both my watch and mobil in GC. But when I go to drink, I only have the watch, I don't have the phone. And so the sync is interrupted. I would need a different mode of this service when I could choose the cup increasing only work on the watch. And if the watch is currently connected to the phone and Garmin cloud, it will sync.
This widget didn't work before on my Vivoacitve4s and now on my Epix2 (I know, this thread is Venu2), because the system itself does not work the way most people could use it, regardless of the type of watch.

  • Hi  any update?

I updated to the latest app version and no change, still broken.

I assume more people are working on this as it isn't just effecting venu 2 users so it is a bigger issue that first thought.

  • All,

We continue to investigate these reports and will be sure to update this thread when we have any information to share.

  • The widget used to remember adding glasses and sending the reminders to hydrate, regardless of Bluetooth connectivity.  This is the key feature that needs to be fixed. I think we have exhausted waiting on Garmin to provide a fix to something that got broken in an update.  I therefore encourage everyone with this permanent bug to return their watch back to the supplier and to give Garmin a negative rating on Trustpilot for their lack of support.

  • Completely unacceptable!  What do you mean 'recommended' Either it needs it or it doesnt.  It used to work i.e. it used to remember adding glasses, regardless of where the phone was.  Surely thats the obvious way it would be designed.  What product manager would expect you to have to get a connection up and running every time you simply wanted to add a glass of water.  The feature used to work ok and watch remembers other stuff like how many stairs or steps you've done !!

I have returned my watch to the retailer.  They agreed that Garmin advertise Hydration tracking as a feature and that Garmin have failed to fix the issue.  So they were happy to give me a full refund.

  • DONT INVESTIGATE THE REPORTS -  INVESTIGATE THE BUG !!

IF YOU CANT FIX THIS, IT WORRIES ME THAT PEOPLE PUT THEIR LIVES IN THE HANDS OF GARMIN AVIATION SOFTWARE!!

  • It gets A LITTLE better with the latest (8.11) firmware upgrade, but still problem.

Now when it is not connected via bluetooth, you can INSIST on entering extra water by repeating the input, quit the water widget, then enter again, repeat if you see your update getting reverted.  Usually doing this twice or so will make the new entry 'stick'.

When it sticks, it will SOMETIMES update the connect app when it gains bluetooth connection.  Other times, the entry will disappear once again.

So it is a small step in the right direction.... but needless to say, this is still unacceptable.

Have been asking for months now....  we need a functional hydration widget !!!!

  • All,

We recently released an update to the Connect IQ Hydration Widget.
