Pausing an activity for long time

Hi,

Is there a way to pause an activity and resume it later?

It would be especially useful when doing more relax hiking or bike rides with family, with lunch break, and get a single GPS track at the end. Right now, the screen remains active on the pause screen and always ask to finish the activity after few minutes; if you miss the warning, it's get saved. That's annoying.

Is it a feature that exists on flagship watches like the Fenix line?

Yes, the feature is available on the fenix 6.

This is such a basic but essential feature! Every simple sportstracking app I tried on Android supports this....

I really don't understand, why Garmin needs to reserve such a simple feature to make their high end devices stand out. I would assume that those devices have more advantages over the VENU than just artificial software barriers.... :-(

GARMIN - please "unlock" this for the VENU 2 as well!

Yes. This seems to be a basic software item that should be solved in future software updates.

it is very unpleasant when the activity is recorded automatically. It should ask and wait for the answer before proceeding to autosave.

Totally agree!

Last weekend I cycled with my nephews and "paused" my watch while dropping them off home and the activity saved when the screen was brushed!

From what it seems there are not so much difference in terms of sensors, indeed Fenix line has a better build quality and materials, and its using buttons instead of touchscreen, and a different type of display. To me that should be enough to distinguish devices, but probably Garmin have different thoughts about that, and it's still holding for the idea of artificially making certain devices inferior.

This feature is available also on old and cheaper Forerunner watches as my old FR 235.

I just submitted the form, here's what I wrote (anubody can copy/paste if they want):

Option request for watch VENU 2: Pausing an activity for long time (until I restart or save manually).
On my old Forerunner 235 watch I was able to pause an activity for how long I wanted, it would not autosave after some minutes. I understand this may drain my battery, but please let me choose. Thank you.
