Android: "No Phone Connection" message displayed on watch despite being paired and connected via Bluetooth

My watch Garmin Venu 2 Plus works great, BUT!

Although the watch is connected (paired) to the phone via bluetooth, it says it is not connected.

For example, synchronization is working, all activities are updated, Im getting notifications and synch with phone is OK. From phone I can send new setting or apps.. etc.. to watch.

BUT I cant use calling or Google assistant. Every time when I invoke this command, watch says: no phone connection...

Can you please help me, what to do? Thank you

  • Hello,

It works fine with a Oneplus Nord 2.
At least Garmin should publish a list of working smartphones.

But they only give a very short list of non-working smartphones.

    It's not acceptable !

  • I have the same problem and have tried everything.  It worked on the initial set up but hasn't since.  It seems to be able to respond to incoming calls but I just get "No Pone Connection" message when I try to call out.  Since that is an important feature of this phone, if it doesn't resolve itself in the next week I will return the watch.  It doesn't appear that Garmin is very responsive to this problem.

  • Yes, the error still persists. If you want to make it easier, you can return it immediately, because Garmin will certainly never fix it..

  • I'll speak to customer support to give them a final chance but will likely return.  Any suggestions for other brands with similar features?

  • spoke to customer support and it is now working.  We'll see if further problems.  Fortunately the place we bought it can return almost forever.

  • What did you have to do to fix it?

Hope you don't run into other problems.

  • Well, I ended up buying a new phone... It's not Huawei, but it works perfectly... So now not sure whether this would be for Garmin to fix or Huawei... I must say, Garmin support team even processed an exchange of the watch, so I'm inclined to think this is more of a Huawei issue!

  • Hi,  It's been a bit of a saga.  I contacted them again as it didn't connect the next time I turned on my phone.  Basically they had me turn off phone, turn off watch, turn off bluetooth on phone and restart everything.  It then worked.  The guy actually had be download and send them all the logs from the watch which was passed on to their engineers.  By the way  after looking at all the details of the watch and the phone they said everything was up to date and should be working.  They said they would get back to me but they never did which is poor from on their part.  Anyway,  the next day it did not connect and I went through all the steps and after a while I gave up.  The day after I did the same and it did connect.  The 3rd day when I turned on the phone the watch gave a code and the phone connected.  On the 4th day and so far every subsequent day it has connected properly.  ie when I turn on the phone it just connects as it should..  So I don't have a clue what is happening.  Right now I am happy.   And fortunately where I bought it has a very generous return policy so if it stops working again I will return it. But right now it is doing what it should.  And a couple of times I have found that being able to answer the phone and speak using the watch is very handy (phone in a different part of the house or simply can't get to it quickly).  I don't know what you can learn from this but if garmin people are paying attention I really would like to know if their engineers figured out what the issue is.

  • I am having the same issue. It connects with my ipad fine but not my phone.
