Venu 2 +

Nice review from DC Rainmaker at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hq4zr8oSlU0

Smaller case, same size screen. And having a speaker / mic is a big plus in my mind - that is really the only thing I miss from my former Samsung watch.

Looks like we will all be getting clickable complications, love that.

Lastly his accuracy measurements are interesting to watch.

  • I would never buy either one of those (Samsung or Apple) due to battery limitations.  I’ve looked into them both and the one or two day battery life is just plain unacceptable.  And would be worse with GPS tracking turned on for a hike.  I think of the Garmin more as a fitness watch then a watch thats replicating my phone.

Also, try the DwMap app.  Its fantastic and lets you route a hike, run, bike ride etc and displays the route on your watch with turn by turn instructions if you want them.

  • You won't find an always-on OLED display watch lasting longer than two days. Garmin has about the best battery life of them all.

The display is why I buy these watches. The GPS uses about 5% for an hour-long hike with the display on. That's pretty good. A comparable Wear OS or Samsung watch uses anywhere from 15% to 30% battery for the same activity.

While not acceptable to you, it's good for many of us.

Hi I assume you are saying that compared to other Garmin watches, yes? Compared to Apple or Samsung the battery life on a Venu2 can't beat, and the 2+ looks slightly worse but similar.

  • I have no problem using GPS daily, having an always on display, and only charging while I shower. The only thing I lose is stats while in the shower. Well, I guess if I fell in the shower I would not get fall detection. I will have to give the watch up when I am 90 I guess. Slight smile

  • Oh sorry, I meant the Samsung or Apple Watch, I’ll update my post.  I love my Garmin watches.

  • No, I meant Garmin compared to Samsung and Apple.

  • Not sure if an accurate wrist pulse ox is even possible. My wife's new Apple Watch 7 is no more accurate than my Fenix 6S Pro, both typically finding it in the 94-96 range. I was very surprised the Apple watch was no better as I've been disappointed in my Fenix's obvious miss on pulse ox.

  • There have been numerous comparisons with HR straps with the Garmin and Apple watches and they’re both really good.

  • Just got mine about 2 hours ago!  I upgraded from an original Venu that was starting to show its age - losing heart rate accuracy and elevation accuracy, and also had some serious screen burn-in from one of the 3rd party watch faces.  This is a great looking watch that I can't wait to put thru its paces with some running, hiking and indoor activities.

  • if you would use these watches over a longer time you would know that lots of this data is just vague and many times simply false and misleading. Pulse is really good, the rest is so so (floors, steps) or not usable (PulseOX and Health Snapshot)
