Lily: Hydration Widget Changes To A Different Value When Exiting And Re-Opening Widget

Hi

Whenever I exit the hydration tracker page on the watch, and return after a while, it has either increased or decreased the amount of water I have logged.
This keeps happening in spite of multiple resets of the watch and app etc.

is this a known bug, or is there an easy fix/workaround?

TIA

Mads

  • had the app open long enough to do a full sync with watch, now watch is correct again at 750ml

  • All-

An active Bluetooth connection to the Garmin Connect mobile app is required for the hydration data that you enter on your watch to save:

Syncing Hydration Data With Garmin Connect

If you notice an inconsistency in your fluid intake data between your watch's hydration widget and Garmin Connect, please follow these steps to get the values to sync up:

    1. Pull up the hydration widget on your watch
    2. Open the Garmin Connect app while your watch is currently connected to it
    3. Navigate in the Connect app to More/Menu > Health Stats > Hydration
    4. Swipe down on the screen to refresh and see the updated data from the watch

If you follow these steps, does the data save correctly?

  • In my case, bluetooth is always on for watch and phone, and thus always connected except when I'm out of range (which is very infrequently)

Yes the above steps resolve the issue, but it still happens again another day

My last time I had this happen (yesterday): watch was on bluetooth. Phone was on bluetooth right next to my watch. Watch was connected to phone. GarminConnect app was open but phone screen locked. Entered hydration on my watch (500ml, added 250ml, watch then showed 1000ml), checked phone (750ml): correct. Checked watch (1000ml): incorrect. Synced phone/watch via GarminConnect manually: watch fixed (but happened again later)

  • Quick update of some circumstances I've noticed when this is more likely to happen for me:
Enter 250ml + 250ml on watch (so 500ml at once)
Watch connected via bluetooth, in range of phone, app open but not foreground, phone screen locked

Go back to watch some time later to enter another 250ml and it's showing (before doing anything) 1000ml. Always seems to be 500ml that doubles to 1000ml for me, rarely other amounts

Fix: open app, enter 250ml on app. Could be on my phone (bluetooth), could be on website. Could be on iPad (no direct connection to watch). Go to watch: now shows 750ml

    • I have returned my watch to the retailer.  They agreed that Garmin advertise Hydration tracking as a feature (and actually a very important feature for many) and that Garmin have failed to fix the known issue.  So they were happy to give me a full refund.  Mistake I made was upgrading to Venu 2+ so I'm taking that back too.

Kevin your suggestion above is NOT a fix and completely unacceptable!  If your developers cant fix the issue then don't just reinvent how the functionality works.

YOU USED TO SAY a connection is 'recommended'.   NOW YOU SAY 'required'.

Either it needs it or it doesn't.  It used to work i.e. it used to remember adding glasses, regardless of where the phone was.  Surely that's the obvious way it would be designed.  What product manager would expect you to have to get a connection up and running every time you simply wanted to add a glass of water.  The feature used to work ok and the watch remembers other stuff like how many stairs or steps you've done !!

The product is not fit for purpose.  I recommend all owners take their watch back to the retailers and write up a Trustpilot or other reviews.
