No sleep detected

Tonight, I saw no sleep data. I only had the sleep monitor on my arm. Weirdly .. I had some increase in body battery, stress level was recorded for the whole night, and pulsOx data were also recorded. I tried syncing couple times but the sleep data never showed up.

Any idea what was wrong?

Thanks!

Best,

M

  • I’ve been experiencing the same issue for months, regardless of the software version.

  • Same here. With two different devices!
I've got the band when it was fairly new on the market. 4 days no issues, then 2 nights no data.

I have googled the issue, set it to "primary device", made the sleep hours more generous, then it worked again. But I returned the device, considering it too expensive and unreliable.

Now I've got it again for black friday and: exactly the same: after 4 days, no data any more.

Meanwhile I can't adjust the "primary device" any more. I see that my Epix is the primary device, but I can't change it. See screenshot.

The screenshot also shows, that the Index WAS synced this morning, however I get no sleep data.

  • Another user suggested the following which worked for me:

    - Turn off your Garmin Smart Watch before going to bed/using your Index Sleep Monitor.

    - In the morning after waking up, remove your Index Sleep Monitor, let it sync and wait for the Garmin Connect App to show your sleep data.

    - After your Index Sleep Monitor has completed the sync and your sleep data is showing on the Garmin Connect App, turn on your watch again and let it sync.

It seems like there are sync issues that Garmin has to figure out. Turning off the watch before going to bed is a small task that is easily incorporated into my bedtime routine, so it doesn‘t bother me too much. Still, I‘d expect to not run into problems like these with a device this expensive.

  • This is actually a very specific problem that Garmin should be able to address (I have the exact same issue), hence I opened a less general and more narrow forum question at this link a few weeks ago in the hopes this can be fixed:

  • Good to hear, that this worked for you. I have meanwhile decided to send mine back (second time!) and go with a Withings mat.
If you are right, then I'm even more angry at Garmin for not telling me this.
    - it's not mentioned in their standard troubleshooting tips
    - the support didn't mention it, when opening the ticket and gathering the logs
    - Support never came back to me
    - AND: I have explicitly asked support about the "default device" setting, which the recommend to adjust. When I had my first Index band (same issue, returned it), it seemed to help to set the band as the primary fitness device. Meanwhile this setting is no longer available. Upon request, Support confirmed that it's no longer user-selectable, because it's not required.

Thanks anyway for letting us/me know. Might be the solution to the issue.

  • This is pretty much the process I follow.  Although instead of turning off the watch I just make sure the BT is not connected back to my phone/Garmin Connect.

Following the above steps though works for me.  My watch is the Forerunner 265.
