Sleep index does not detect sleep

I usually wear the sleep index in the night (not the watch) and sometimes there is no sleep detected. I have now confirmed after testing this a few times reproducible that whenever my forerunner 955 connects first to the phone then whatever the sleep index measured is ignored and in Garmin connect it says "no sleep detected", switching off the forerunner watch after every exercise (which is a bit annoying) gives reliable sleep data from the sleep index, this to me seems like a simple bug in software that should get fixed!

  • Interesting.  I know the watches are different, but for my 265 I take it off at night.  The watch is still on but BT is not connected to anything.  BT is off on my watch and my phone is in airplane mode.  The watch does go in to sleep mode though.  And by that I mean the display dims to the non-daily wearable display.  When I wake up, I turn my phone on.  The ISM syncs and after the sleep displays in GC, I turn BT on on my 265.  The 265 syncs and my sleep and body battery and all that jazz is displayed on my 265 morning report.

    Hope you solve your issue.

  • Thanks. I guess that's another way to go about it. Switching off BT on the watch might be faster than turning on/off, but I'd hope Garmin could be smart enough to realize that the sleep index was worn and not the watch.
