S2 not uploading to Garmin connect

Scales have worked fine up until today.

I've reset and checked wifi details, tested the connection of the scales to the wifi from the Garmin connect app; that seemed ok but still fails to upload to Garmin connect.

I then hard reset, connected to the wifi again and once again, after a weight measurement it fails to upload. I then hard reset again and tried on a different wifi network, hot spotting with my phone and the same thing occurs.

Any ideas?

  • It’s not only S2s failing, my S1 stopped. Updating in March. I changed nothing and even using an (encrypted) hotspot from my phone doesn’t help.
If i add a network (2.4ghz only or hotspot) i always get the checkmate that it could connect to the WiFi, but it never saves anything to the server.

  • I’m experiencing this with a brand new scale. It connects to the internet when tested, and scale takes measurements, but nothing shows up in Garmin Connect.

    1. Yes

    2. Yes

    3. US

  • Are you still experiencing this?  This issue should be resolved

  • No. I just figured out the issue yesterday. I had not opted in for Garmin to receive device data. Once I fixed that, the measurements synced properly. Thanks for checking!

  • the same issue with my S1 scales.

I tried to look what happened through Wireshark and see that after connecting to wifi and receiving ip address, scales make only one request to DNS with question who clock.garmin.com and after that - silence.

  • I've tested it little bit more and found out the next:

Scale cannot connect to my router network becaute they can't send ARP response
    All the traffic in Wireshark
    34211 841.584837 GarminIntern_42:20:dc Broadcast ARP 42 Who has 10.1.30.1? Tell 10.1.30.85

But if I connect this scale to a windows hotspot on my laptop, the scale successfully gets an address from DHCP. Then ask the address of clock.garmin.com, and that's it

  • That's the scale asking where the gateway is.

    • If your gateway is not 10.1.30.1, is DHCP right?
    • If your gateway is 10.1.30.1, is it the gateway responding to arp?
  • "This is where the mystery lies for me at the moment.
I've tried two networks so far:
    1. A Keenetic router, with a second segment specifically created for the scale. Only 2.4 GHz and all other requirements from Garmin are met. ARP requests from the scale vanish into the void, as if the gateway doesn’t see them. All other devices work perfectly.
    2. Windows hotspot — ARP requests from the scale find the gateway, the scale gets an IP address, queries clock.garmin.com, receives a response, and after that, silence. No further requests. All other devices in this network work perfectly as well.

In each of these subnets, I repeatedly reset the scale and reconnected it, but the behavior remained the same.
The only thing is that every time after resetting, I get an email as if mocking me, with the text:
