Garmin Index Scale S2 Body Fat

Have you used the latest update of Index s2 yet?

It's the new update from Kevin: https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/healthandwellness/f/index-s2-smart-scale/315331/body-fat-on-index-s2-smart-scale-seems-inaccurate-part2/1561102#1561102

Change Log for v3.00

  • Body Metric Improvements
  • Wi-Fi Updates
  • Removed WEP Support

Has anyone gotten the 3.0 update and tested it out yet? Have body fat problems improved?

I just bought one.

Thanks a ton.

  • We bought one as well, compared to our previous scale my reading shows a 8% difference, my wife shows a 15% negative differece. Somehow the problem seem not resolved at all.

I saw first discussions on this topic from 3 years ago. Disappointing

I have added in the Connect app, under the user settings for the Scale some body parameters that I had from my previous scale.

After that the results from the S2 were a lot closer to these values. It is not uncommon for a complex algorithm to be dependent on proper starting values, but it's still disappointing for a commercial product

  • Interestingly, my Index S2 suddenly started giving me a much lower Body Fat reading recently - down from about 19% to about 15% - with a corresponding slight increase in Body Water % from about 60% to 62%.  I haven’t noticed a significant change in my body albeit my weight has drifted down about a kg (I’m actually trying to regain weight following a medical issue).

This hasn’t coincided with a firmware update so I am a bit flummoxed.
