Get some skinfold calipers, do the Jackson-Pollock 7-spot body fat test and calculation. That's a start. You can't really measure visceral fat with calipers, though. There's always a chance that you look less "fat" than you actually are .
You can try the US Navy method, with a tape measure and this calculator.

For me, these values match pretty closely with my Tanita RD545.
