Please see the 3.00 software update for this device which was just released and addresses this disruption. This software release should be available to all users at this time.

Can someone at Garmin respond to all our shout outs.
S2 Body Fat not accurate - Index S2 Smart Scale - Health & Wellness - Garmin Forums
We are aware of the issue and…
Well.. let's be realistic... do they want to spend time maintaining software on a $150 scale or a watch that costs between $1000 and $2400 ?
Realistic? My $1500 watch and $1000 Edge…
What am I doing wrong here?
You've bought the Garmin Index S2.
According to a leak, something might actually be in the works:
that is not a fix, it is a workaround at best - enabling you to tell the scales what numbers to give you... the scales are explicitly worthless then, unlikely to be able to track changes accurately
Nah it's what we need, a calibration tool. This method of measuring was never that accurate for getting absolute values, even Withings has an "athlete" mode that just lowers your bodyfat. The scale can still measure changes, but to calibrate it to a professional measured value is the best thing possible.
But you would need to repeat the calibration regularly which would render the scale redundant if you have to get professional measurenents anyway
Not really if I only want to see my trend. I wouldn't even care much for the higher base value on the Garmin, but it messes up my fitness age.
You will get different bodyfat base values from every manufacturer, Garmin is just really far off.
But I do think about to export all my S2 data, adjust it manually by the same value and reimport it, to not have a statistical anomaly (like when I started using the Garmin scale and my bodyfat went up and if this update ever gets released having it suddenly go down).
And you need your fitness age for…? Asking for a friend.
