Please see the 3.00 software update for this device which was just released and addresses this disruption. This software release should be available to all users at this time.

Can someone at Garmin respond to all our shout outs.
S2 Body Fat not accurate - Index S2 Smart Scale - Health & Wellness - Garmin Forums
We are aware of the issue and…
Well.. let's be realistic... do they want to spend time maintaining software on a $150 scale or a watch that costs between $1000 and $2400 ?
Realistic? My $1500 watch and $1000 Edge…
What am I doing wrong here?
You've bought the Garmin Index S2.
I had the same issue with the withings. It told me I was 11 percent when I was closer to 15-16. With the new Body Comp that just came out - I’m at the correct level. Not sure if they changed the hardware or algorithm. Garmin would say I was 21 percent with the highest activity setting and get to 17 percent with an age of 21 (I’m 51).
Thank you so do you like your Body Comp overall? If so I may return my Body Plus and get that.
I do. It seems more accurate than its predecessor plus it gives you a few more health metrics (ymmv). It syncs perfectly with Garmin through the $15 a year syncing program and other user here mentioned.

I just watched a review and it seems that the Body Comp uses multiple frequencies to measure body fat. Maybe that is why you are seeing more accurate readings? I dont know enough about the technology to know if multiple frequencies is just marketing or if its legit.
I guess it's not just because it was on the money for me and matches what my calipers say.
The sensors also give you your heart rate and a sweat gland score (epidermal score they call it) - so it's pretty capable. I forgot where I put my tanita ironman that measures from the hands as well because that splits the body into 4 and was very accurate too - want to compare.
The Withings Body Plus is being returned. It measures my body fat % as 6-7% and frankly I think the last time I was anywhere near that number was when I was in the womb. Once the Body Comp becomes available on Amazon I will try that.
I have just bought index s2 scale after my original index stopped working last week. My body fat has jumped from 13% to 29% in the space of two weeks - only change being my scales. As a user of multiple Garmin devices and regular user of Garmin connect (upload 4-5 activities a week) I am disappointed to now read about all the issues with the body fat and lack of progress with sorting. I will send the scales back and find an accurate alternative solution.
This is amazing! It should be an easy fix. Come on Garmin. The formula for highly trained athletes as it relates to body fat has been in play for Tanita and others for a long time. Please make this update and solve the issue. I’ve gone from 6% BF to 16+% on Garmin. Let’s get this fixed and move on.
Good morning Garmin-Kevin - its Q4 now. Whats going on?
Good morning Garmin-Kevin
As advertised still at the site accuracy matters… any update? it’s frustrating if you can’t solve it just inform us so that your customers know. Keep them informed and maybe adjust also your website because the scale as even you said has problems at the moment…. Thanks
